Hi My Lot! Well technically that was yesterday ha ha - but I suppose it's generally this season - after Halloween time. I usually go shopping for the after Halloween deals as I'm into several dance groups, bands, theater type stuff and you never know when you might need a headband with butterflies on it. lol. Also I collect masks, having dedicated 1 wall in my bedroom as "mask wall", and after Halloween always seems to yield one or several. This year in addition to some funky headbands, I managed to find a pirate hat (unpictured). Now, it isn't a real great one - but for the price I could hardly pass up on it. I also got gifts ahead for a friend of mine. I know you're probably thinking I'm a real cheapskate friend - however this friend of mine loves skulls, and Halloween decorating and her birthday is in October -- so yes, it's true I will be hanging on to these items for close to a year. But I do that. I have a gift stash started and sometimes I do have things for close to a year - I find it makes it easier to give people nice gifts without having to spend a lot of $ on gifts all at once. I also keep small - cool, random things in this stash - for a friend or family member if they want to celebrate something, or if they need cheering up. I'm getting off topic. I also enjoyed picking up some extra candy. Half price candy! And it's in small servings already! Well, I guess it's not a small serving if you sit there and eat like 5 bags of it, but.... yknow. Anyway. I limited myself to only a few kinds and I gave half of what I got to my folks. For candy - I got- Reeses "pumpkins" (same thing as a Reeses peanut butter cup, only shaped like a pumpkin) - happy I didn't get more of those. I would eat them a lot! Skittles And blood orange and black cherry flavored twizzlers. (orange and black colored, these taste mostly like cherry twizzlers) Finally I got some cool glittery pumpkins. I know , I don't need a lot more in the line of dust collectors, but these look so festive and nice and were dirt cheap. They are just generic pumpkin shapes - so are great for "Fall" decorating not just Halloween. Well, I meant for this to just be a short little topic and looks like I really do ramble on a great deal. Do you like buying stuff off season? Have you experienced any new candy post Halloween? Photo: Mine

I love day after sales. When I was a teen I cleaned house for this rich lady and once she took me with her to the day after Christmas sale, I was her muscle, she bought 30 of these tea pots. I did not say anything but thinking she has lost her mind! At home I was on the ladder putting them on the top shelf of her closet as she handed them to me, she said " Now I have next Christmas ready." And that is how come she was rich! She still got nice gifts, she just did not pay full price. I learned a lot from that old lady.

Wow she was smart. I have heard that wealthy people are wealthy most often for 2 reasons - hard work and spending wisely. I think the latter gets over looked a lot

Yes, I have hoarded the Halloween sale stuff . Our 99cent stores have their Halloween stuff at 25 cents right now - I stocked up for next year! This year I didn't even touch the kids' candies (ok, I had one peanut M&M - just one) - and I didn't dare buy any more even if they were on sale. But so tempting .

Oh that is a sweet deal! Our $1 store didn't seem to have much of any Halloween stuff out. I wonder if they store it , rather than sell it super cheap? I won't tell anyone about the M&M lol

@FayeHazel I have seen many Halloween sales . . . and I still have not touched the candies. Some places are now 75% off! Yah, I don't know what they do with any of the holiday leftovers they put away - you'd think they'd make more out of getting rid of them and selling it right away!

My wife and I this year may do this after Christmas. A few things we have our eye on that we would prefer to get for less if we can. We'll see.

Ah yes, I do that too. Valentine's Day is all about couples (ugh) and as I like to say, the day after Valentine's day should be singles day. You know, cheaper to buy yourself roses and chocolate

I like the items in the photo! Nice finds. I would love to see a photo of your mask wall. I bet it looks really unique. I'm curious how you display them. As far as you buying presents for friend a year ahead I do not think your a cheapskate I think your a smart shopper Halloween night my mom would always eat a bunch of our candy then go out the next day when all the candy was at a huge discount and buy us more.

Thanks! We both have good taste. :-) I'll see if I can include a photo of mask wall, adjoined by vintage hat wall. :-) Thanks too - I do like buying ahead as I can. That seems like a fair trade to me. You could probably get way more in the deal that way

I do exactly the same thing...Well, with candy, not so much with decorations. Tonight I picked up a big mixed bag of Butterfingers, Nestle Crunch and a few others for about $5 at Menards...I needed some shelf brackets. Oh, and a big bag of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups with Reeses Pieces inside them. But after one Halloween I did get some heavy rubber chains with cuffs, solid, not like handcuffs, you just slip your hands and ankles in and out of them, for hands and legs for like 25 cents each. They aren't especially durable but they look good and I've had them for years and they haven't broken yet. If I find something like that again, I'll get them.

@FayeHazel The Reeses with Reeses Pieces don't seem very different. So far, there's only been two Pieces at most in each one and usually, it's just one. Disappointing. You're doing way better than I am. I haven't even eaten half of the candy yet. Yeah, those cuffs are mostly for atmosphere...I've heard that some people use things like that for ...um, other reasons than decoration but these things would just snap under heavy play...at least that's what I hear from people who do those sorts of things. Oh, I don't decorate for Halloween. I try to work decorating into my schedule but you know me, cooking, cleaning, gardening and sewing just take up all my time.

@xander6464 Oh really? I've just had a couple of them - but the ones I got were *loaded* with the little pieces in them. Ah yes, alas I'm doing really well with eating candy. lol. Oh uh, yeah, I'm sure. Just think though, if someone were using those cuffs, like for some reason or something? Like the "prisoner" would have to "want" to stay restrained …. submitting fully.... Or something. Not like I would know. lol. Hm sewing? A hidden talent? Are you holding out on me, Greg?

Do you decorate for Halloween? That's cool! The candy sounds good. I've managed to eat all of mine already. So... Trick or Treat! to you. lol. How do you like those Reeses with the Reeses Pieces inside them? I was all excited about that (yes leave it to me to get hot and bothered about a candy) - but I found I like the regular ones better. Those cuffs sound fun. For a costume of course. Of course. Sure. Can't think of any other situation where that would work

We usually buy some of the after-Halloween candy, too! Did you get any of the white chocolate and peanut butter skulls? They are really good! I also found some of the Milky Way candy bars that have caramel apple flavoring in them. You know those won't last long!

@FayeHazel Good luck finding any more of the caramel apple Milky Way bars. I found them once and haven't been able to find them again. I was right, that bag didn't last long! I saw yesterday that they've already put out Christmas candies. I purposely didn't go looking to see what all they had, though... It's much too early for Christmas, in my opinion. (Do you get the impression they are shoving Christmas down our throats? )

@DaddyEvil Aw, you're right. I have the sneaking feeling that the "good" candy are already bought up. Leaving the Duble Buble, dum dums, etc. Boston Baked Beans, I remember that one as a kid. wonder if they still make it. Don't feel bad.... the ones I bought didn't last long either lol ;-) Yes, and I agree. Too early for Christmas. Christmas stuff should come out *after* Thanksgiving. You're right. It's getting pushy
