Lost two hours of sleep

Last night I stayed up an extra hour past my usual bedtime to finish a book I was reading. It was called “9th girl” by Tami Hoag. It was so good I just didn’t want to put it down and sleep. I figured losing an hour wouldn’t kill me. At 6 my son woke me up because he had to go the bathroom. He said we might as well just stay downstairs since it was so close to when the alarm would go off. But I like my sleep. However I couldn’t fall back asleep after being woken up so I laid there for an hour. I was pretty tired today. I didn’t have much time to get online because it was an asynchronous day of school (no live classes) so he and I had to do the work ourselves. Usually I do things online like surveys or mylot when he does live classes next to me. I managed to get a load of dishes and three loads of laundry done and put away. I spent two hours preparing my dinner which was Sweet Potato Chickpea Burgers. By the time I finished all the ingredients it had to chill for an hour. I was to hungry to wait so I will freeze them and have them another night for dinner. Photo is what they look like now before cooking them. I should have chopped up the green peppers more. I wound up eating leftovers from last nights dinner which was Corn & Broccoli Rice Casserole.

That sounds like a yummy recipe. I should try chilling my chickpea burgers before cooking them. They might hold together better now that you give me the idea.

@paigea I assume your make the chickpea burgers from scratch? These had three eggs and old fashioned oats. I think the eggs are what will hold it together. They seems kind of wet and squishy so I probably should had added the final 1\2 c of old fashioned oats but I'll see how they are next week when I eat them.

@paigea I have made quinoa once and really didn't like it. My daughter said it helps regulate blood pressure. I don't have to worry about that but good to know it's so healthy for us. Maybe I can look up a recipe for veggie burgers to use the rest of the quinoa I have up.

You should give a torch or something to your son, so he can get up and go to the bathroom by himself, without fearing the dark.

@LadyDuck I tried so hard the other day to get him to go upstairs and put his toys away. It was about 6pm and was pretty dark. If you turn on the hall light then you can see a bit to turn my light on then you can see a bit to turn his light on. It is terrifying to him. He cried and cried and could not do it. I had that same terrible fear when I was a kid. I would lay in my bed terrified staring into the dark all night breathing heavy and sweating in fear.

@shaggin He should try to go by himself, he needs to become a bit more independent and gain confidence.

@kepweng It is not what I am suggesting here. The son of Shaggin has some problems, you have not understood the problem.

@DianneN that it is pretty much how I have always been as well. As I get older I make my sleep more a priority knowing full well I won't deal as well the following day if I don't.

@Courtlynn Ick lol green peppers in cookies would be terrible but I can see how the shape of them at first glance could look like cookies!

@Courtlynn lol funny maybe the color looks a little different on your screen. I remember one of my computer monitors the colors looked dull so when I printed pictures the red stood out a lot more then my computer monitor showed.

Question: Why does your son have to wake you up to go to the bathroom? He isn't a toddler is he? or was he sleeping with you?

@snowy22315 nope he is 11 but he's a nervous kid and the dark scares him. I know I was scared like that until I was an adult. Actually even after an adult. Not long ago I could barely step off my porch steps if it was dark out. My daughter never was scared of the dark at all. Even when she was little she would get up turn on the lights and go downstairs in the dark. My room is connected to his so he has to go through my room to go downstairs so he would make me up going down no matter what.

@maezee I read 4 other books of hers and they are always something I have a hard time putting down. I swear one of the other books I read by her had the same thing happen towards the end with the serial killer so I was confused if I read this book before and forgot or if she really did do such a similar ending in two of her books.

You got me on those burgers. Those sound very tasty. I lost sleep last night myself but it was cause of one of my clocks loves to play games. It started bonging at midnight instead of at 6 like it is supposed to.

@sallypup I can't wait try them I can post a link to the recipe if you want to try making them. It made 8 big patties. Oh man that clock would be in the garbage soon if it were mine. I don't like missing sleep I get pretty grumpy. I wasn't grumpy today though thankfully.

@Icydoll I can't wait to cook one up and try it. My boyfriend may come over tonight and I won't eat beans when he is around so if he comes over I will have to wait until another night to eat them.
