This is Just Weird

I live across from the coin laundry in our park. I wait for a time of day when it is not busy and go across the street and put my clothes in the washer. Then, I go home and come back to put them in the dryer. Then I go home and come back when it is done. The other day, all my bras were missing from the dryer. This is not the first time this has happened. I remember it happening last year too. It only happens when the northerners come south for the winter. Why is this happening? Is someone stalking me? This is just weird.

I would be fine if a lady did it. But if was a man from North, I would have serious concerns about his mental health.

@akalinus A woman might not be able to afford it. But a man may be fighting shy of buying one ..either for himself or his girlfriend. Poor guy does not know bras come in all sizes and shapes.

Why would a woman do this? And especially, why the man? Why would anyone?

Maybe Northern women are more likely to be petty criminals. I promise you it wasn't me.

@vandana7 Did I miss seeing @akalinus pondering whether pony might be the one stealing her bras?

It's creepy to know that someone, whoever they were, went through your stuff in the running dryer - and just the bras ? It feels like we can't keep anything nice anymore - but geez, bras too - are people that desperate that they have to steal those too? I don't get it either!

We used to have to use the laundry mat and I would stay, I often seen people getting clothes out of dryers and then later see someone else come in and get those clothes, I did not know they were stealing.

They might have been sent to pick them up. I often got my son's clothes out of the dryer. Do you mean they came to get them after someone else took them? It seems such a waste of time to sit there when I live yards away from it.

I know it happens. Usually, they get careless and get caught. I am sure they will watch for a laundry bandit if it happens too often.

@1hopefulman It is really annoying but it is worrisome. There are a lot of mentally unbalanced people and you never know what they are thinking. That part worries me the most. If a woman needs clothes, I have a credit card. I will take her to Walmart and let her pick out a reasonable amount of clothing of her choice.

I think this is very easy to figure out, Jo Ann. It seems obvious to me that the gentleman who was looking for his "shirt" in your clean laundry was actually looking to increase his selection of fine wearables. You must not have had any bras that were new and exciting to him that day.

That IS weird. Who goes around stealing bras? Were they alone in a dryer, or did someone have to pick them out?

It is expensive to wash and dry so everything goes in together. They were in a basket of dirty clothes so they were picked out of all the rest. Nothing else was missing that I know of.

@hillhjill The one doing it only does it during snowbird season. So I know it is someone from one of the cold states up north.

@akalinus Still wondering why it only happens when the northerners come down, maybe it was a girl on the run and didn't have anything but why only underclothes. Makes you really wonder.

@akalinus I know the feeling. We got burgled a few times, the thought of strangers (or not strangers but perhaps just unwelcomed visitors) made me angry.

Some years ago I was using a public laundry room. One day there was a handwritten note on the door. It said: "Who stole my bras? I want them back" I never found out who the thief was, but I started drying my bras in my apartment instead of using the dryer.

@akalinus I think it is a good idea to dry them in your home. I sometimes saw expensive clothes in the laundry room I was using, but the thief didn't take them. He or she only took the bras.

I think I will start doing that too. I did not know it happened to other people. I thought it was just me. I have a small clothesline that hangs on a hook, just the right size for drying them.
