Spent about $168 on dinner for two

Wednesday I took my husband to an Italian wine bar restaurant, which according to Yelp was $$. Things on the menu that we ordered were all $14 or less. I think even the wine. We ordered five tapas, glasses of wine, two cappuccinos, and two desserts. I was expecting the bill (with tip) to be under $130. However, the bill came to about $168 (tip included). One of the reasons for this was because hubby decided he needed three glasses of wine instead of just one. I only had one. That's already over $20 extra I could have saved on the bill. And there was one tapas dish I could have done without as well but it was only $7 so it wouldn't have done much to lower the bill anyway. This goes to show that you can go to a fairly inexpensive or reasonably priced restaurant and still end up with a high bill. I don't regret going to this place but I do wish the bill was smaller... What's the most you've ever spent on dinner for two people? For me, it was closer to $240. Though once my husband (we were just dating at the time) spent around $800 on Valentine's Day dinner outing, which was insane, even if I loved the place and the food a great deal. It was a fantastic experience but we could've done without it.

Once in a while that is okay but spending hundreds on dinner on a regular basis is not good, unless you earn a good paycheck that let's you do it without going broke.

If you can dine out and enjoy the place and the food and not spend a lot that's awesome.

It's the number 168 that interests me. This is a lucky number to some Chinese people. We have a mall here with that name 168. But the meal is really expensive huh?

I think we are both different situations, you people have, I don't have people I think it's too much if I have to spend that much money, but maybe not for you Because for sure you are still able to pay for the food you ordered with a total that is very unreachable to me

It's very easy to swipe a credit card and for a large amount. You don't need to physically have money in your account for that. But then you have to hopefully pay the amount off in full when the bill comes at the end of the month. Thankfully, I am able to do that. If I didn't, I'd not have spend that much. I never charge anything I can't pay in full at the end of the month.

@KOLAMsegaran1 When you buy something with a credit card you have to pay it when the credit card bill comes.

$100 on brunch can be considered a bit high. But usually it would run you up at least $60 if you go to a good place, at least in NYC.

I wouldn't call the place we went to very fancy. And pricing of the food is not expensive, however, it all depends on how much food you order and how many drinks. Usually the drinks are the ones that get you in the end.
