My husband made his own vanilla extract. I splashed too much into last year's Christmas sugar cookies and yeah they tasted a little strong.

Wow, I would have never thought that it could get a person drunk....but I guess if they drank enough of it. I just use a small amount in baking!

@CarolDM wow I didn't know that. It doesn't say on the bottle where I live. But come to think of it it makes sense. I've made extracts out of vodka and whichever fruit or berry I had and used it in specialty drinks. Vodka is 40%

Well, that is interesting. I do know that I made my own vanilla extract one using a vanilla bean and a small bottle of vodka so I guess it is possible. Never occurred to me to drink it straight right out of the bottle!!
