Have you experienced a Californian Sunset?

SO I have been to 32 countries around the world and probably hundreds of cities but have never seen sunsets as beautiful as in California. I was told by a few locals whenever I mentioned this that it was ironically due to the pollution in the atmosphere producing the brilliant hues. This is one I took at Santa Monica of the pier. It has not been altered except for the frame. If your a traveler and have experienced a Californian sunset would love to know if you have been seen similarly spectacular sunsets anywhere else

@JohnRoberts We have a tall building called "Centrepoint" tower (I've heard American tourists call it "the big needle" ). I have lived here all my life and the first time I went up to the observatory on the top floor was when we had family from overseas visit and we took them up :D

I have, but I don't really remember them as being better than other sunsets. We get some beautiful ones around here because the sun reflects off the lake. It creates a multi tiered effect.

Here's another of my LA sunset picks. I cant get this intensity with any other sunset pic without photoshopping it.

A California sunset is my profile picture here . Mine, I believe, was taken in either Malibu or Zuma. I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area so I'm very familiar with CA sunsets!

@hereandthere We can get a 10 year one and many countries do not require visa's for AUstralians, but the stamps in the back always look good and its sad to lose them when you get a new passport.

My estranged wife was from Hong Kong and we sent a lot of time trekking through Asia. I have been to Europe and North America for work (well partly for work, when you travel from Australia, everywhere is far so you tend to make the most of it :). Also a few Pacific Island nations for short breaks. Last count it was 32 but that count was over 8 years ago. Have not travelled since. Usually 6 weeks away tops. Europe was 5 weeks but mainly Eastern Europe so have not been to England/France or any Scandinavian countries. Maybe one day. For about 5 years I use to visit North America every year for a 3 day conference but spend 3 weeks looking around, 2/3 different cities each year. Been to the Phillipines also for work, stayed in Pasay. Loved it, loved the people, but really really hot, not to mention it was hot :D

I've seen pretty sunsets everywhere I've lived. I don't think pollution plays a big role here in California. Rather, it's the presence of the ocean, with interesting cloud patterns above. Here's one of my best sunset photos from the San Francisco Bay Area in California. Those clouds are not caused by pollution.

There is nothing better than seeing a California sunset. It tops all those I've seen anywhere on my travels. A huge ball of sun sinking into the Pacific is like no other.

I have lived in California all my life, so I have seen thousands but I do appreciate the really beautiful ones. I still remember a sunset from when I was about 9 years old. My mom and I were walking back from the grocery store, and we looked up and the sky was a bright pink and all of the clouds were a deep purple, it looked like we had stepped onto another planet, it was so amazing.

I have been to California but did not notice it. I love capturing sunrise photos right from our entrance door but none that have such great hues
