I have always had a problem with cold hands and feet and not just in winter. Anyone else have that problem? I have always assumed it is because of poor circulation but always wondered what caused the poor circulation. I am now wondering if if it is caused by shallow breathing. Any thoughts on this topic?

If you have the problem all the time it could be Raynaud's syndrome. It's nothing serious, but it's a condition in which spasm of arteries cause reduced blood flow in the hands and feet.

I have had that problem all my life. I have asked a few doctors about it and they say it us poor circulation. I am trying to find some rich circulations.

I have this too, I have a very low heart rate, that may be the cause. As low I mean mine is in the 50`s.

What do the doctors say about your heart rate? Is it a cause for concern?

My extremities tend to get cold, not only my feet and sometimes my hands, but my nose as well.

Interesting! I have never noticed a problem with my nose. Have you tried soaking your feet in a basin of hot water before you go to bed?

I experienced having cold hands and feet when I got nervous during an oral exam back in college. Other than that situation, I don't experience this at all so I couldn't really share what causes it rather than the irregularities in the heartbeat which of course affect the blood flow.

Yes, I do find that when I am very nervous such as when I am speaking in front of a crowd of people that my hands get really cold.

@toniganzon Yes, I get very nervous and that might impede the circulation of the blood.

I don't have that problem but, like you, I've always assumed it was caused by poor circulation.

That's what I was told by my doctors but they didn't seem too concerned about it. When my feet are cold at night, I soak them in hot water before I go to bed and that helps a lot.

Poor blood circulation. I have a problem with the feet but not with hands. The problem of poor circulation can be solved by stretching exercises for which it is sufficient for 15 to 20 minutes a day.

It is not a serious problem for me. I just thought it would be an interesting topic for discussion. I usually soak my feet in hot water before I go to be and that works well.

Research shows kidney and thyroid issues may be the cause. All of this info is online. Of course you know that. Pub Med is one good site for info.

I would have no idea. I only have cold hands and feet if it is cold outside or they become cold and clammy if I am very nervous.

@1hopefulman I know they have socks for diabetics that helps the circulation. I'm sure you don't need to be diabetic to use them.

I have the same problem. My grandparents told me that people who suffered from this were the ones who washed their hands and legs when tired. I dont know if this is true to others because it is to me,
