Happy Pi Day (3.14. . .) but I want to make cookies

Well, today the internet is full of Pi (pie) jokes because the date has the first three digits of pi. I am craving cookies, but have resisted so far. I could make a pie, but I will not. In reference to my previous discussion, I have chosen not to take the job. There were too many red flags in my personal life. My gut was hurting thinking about them. Other plans are to go eat Mexican food at a restaurant in Hillsboro, Ks. with Sue and her husband. It is gloomy and chilly, with quite a bit of wind. I just ate leftover split pea soup. It has better flavor today than the day I made it. Yum.

I was all for having a piece of pie today lol I love soup that has had a chance to age, it just gets better and better. I am thawing out some lentil for tomorrow.

This has been a good winter for us to expand our soup experience. Loving it. What do you put in your lentil soup?

@BelleStarr You lost me at pasta, hubby will not eat it. No meat? I had a boss who made excellent veggie burritos with lentils.

I knew that it was Pi day, but don't eat pie or other sweets if I can help it. If you feel that way about the job, then it's wise of you to turn it down. Mexican food is always a good option.

It just seemed like the job was going to interfere with life too much. Not a good thing and I feel good about the decision.

@DianneN I will be going back to subbing. I can say no if I want to, and if people are mean, I will refuse to work with them. I love being able to go with hubby when he needs me or wants me along.

Yah, I saw a few Pi jokes earlier on FB too. I am too lazy to make pies - but maybe a crumble or a crisp might be doable. I did make a chicken vegetable noodle soup for my sick son . . . but he fell asleep so I just ate some of the soup myself. Job - going with your feeling is probably best. Stay warm and enjoy the Mexi meal!

Crisps and crumbles are likely healthier. Love pie, do not love making it. I am sorry your son is sick.

@GardenGerty The crisps and crumbles are just easier to make - I have yet to master a real pie crust! Thank you - he is staying home today too.

We don't need pie or cookies. I'm glad you resisted. Red flags are a sure sign you shouldn't contemplate an action. I'm glad you didn't take the job. I hope your lunch/dinner with friends turned out well. Leftovers always seem to taste better the second day. I'm sorry you're having a gloomy, chilly, windy day.

Eventually the sun will shine. I did not make the cookies. I think I gain just from thinking of them. Love cookies, especially the homemade ones.

I actually didn't hear anything about it being PI day, until I read Valerie's most recent post about 30 minutes ago. Didnt even put two and two together when i was at the dentist and had to write the date. Hope you had a great day. Whatever you did.

It's gloomy here but the temperatures are pleasant. I need to go do some yard work this afternoon.

@GardenGerty I'm still trying to finish the cleanup from last fall. It's been too wet to work outside more often than not.

You are most likely correct, but it seems Pi--pie is easier to make jokes about.

I did not even realize it’s pie day! No pie for me today. Only spinach soup leftovers. Which are good enough. Lol have a good day!

Leftover soup is delicious. I did not make anything. It is actually time to make raisin bran muffins for hubby again.

Hasn't somebody just calculated Pi to one trillion decimal places or something like that?

It is very likely they have. That is more than I really need to know. Pi r squared=area of a circle (am I remembering right?) was plenty for me.

@GardenGerty You remember correctly. I think 3.14 is accurate enough for most applications. Can't see the point of going to extremes other than to say you can!!

I still have not made them. I want to make some flavored with chocolate malt powder and with toffee bits in them. Almost like having a candy bar and a cookie all together.

Nerdy people who are into math think about pi day. The other pie, well, I love it any day.
