For me, it's the Moosehead Lake region in northern Maine. It's not near any city. And their's nothing there other than the beautiful scenery. How about you?

I think that must be Foula. Foula is an island of the coast of Shetland, the island group between the Orkneys and the Faroes. So between Scotland and Iceland out in the North Sea. I think we flew for about 30 minutes from the Shetland mainland, so it's quite on its own out in the sea. Lot of sheep, about 50 inhabitants ( I think, maybe a bit more) and wild birds all over the place

There is a cruise that goes to many of those outlying islands between Scotland and Scandanavia. It would be a dream to go on that sometime. It would be especially great to go, when it is beastly hot here!

I once went to the Dolly Sods Wilderness area in West Virginia. It is really isolated and deep in the mountains. I am not sure why were there..just looking at the one sided spruce I guess.

I don't think I've ever been anywhere truly "remote". I stick to the suburbs and cities.
