A "kids say the darndest things" moment from yesterday.

I spend the last hour in one of the "big kid" rooms yesterday. At afternoon snack time, I listened as two girls, aged four and five, were have an intellectual argument. I did not intervene. 5-year-old: It's Easter this weekend. 4-year-old: The Easter Bunny will be coming and leaving me a stuffy and some chocolate eggs! 5-year-old: There is no Easter Bunny. 4-year-old: Yes, there is! I got chocolate eggs and a stuffy last year! 5-year-old: The Easter Bunny is your daddy. He sneaks in when you're asleep! 4-year-old: My daddy is not the Easter Bunny. He's a hair dresser! The other teacher in the room and I almost fell over laughing.

I love to listen to children. They are a lot more interesting that grown ups most of the time.

@marguicha I have a good one that I remember from Bubblews days. It was two 4-year-olds discussing gay couples.

@xander6464 What do you watch? I'd watch House if it was on and I'm still trying to finish up Breaking Bad. But that's about it, other than sports.

Classic days of TV. I don't even turn the blasted thing on these days (except for sports now and then). My young friend and I were just watching The Wizard of Oz at his house, though.

I think that is the best perk of our profession of working with children. We get a good doze of laughter and cheerfulness and we stay young at heart.

@arunima25 Actually, I do too. I may prefer other horses to adult humans as well.

I agree. I'm rarely in a bad mood after working with kids. Unless I see teachers being unnecessarily grumpy with them.

What I love the most is when a 1 1/2-year-old sees another 1 1/2-year-old unhappy and says "You OK?" or brings them a toy. It gives me faith in human nature.

@TheHorse absolutely! My son doesn't like to see another child crying and he usually comes running to us and say: " baby cry, baby cry!" He wants us to comfort that other child .

Cute and hilarious at the same time! This would be my 9 year old's conversation with a few of his friends that still believe in Santa .

@TheHorse I did tell him don't ruin it for the other kids. One of the boys came up and to me and told me what he said "He said YOU wrapped the gifts in the middle of the night - not Santa - is that true?" . . . and I told him "Well you know how I help the teacher . . . sometimes I help Santa too" . . . so funny you say that!

Tell him The Horse said he's a Grinch. I tell the littlies "in transition" that I think mommy and daddy "help" Santa.

@much2say I think that's a satisfying answer. My guess is that most kids would like the idea of grown-ups and Santa working together to make them happy.

@TheHorse At least Italian kids are not cheated with the Easter Bunny and not even Santa. We were only told that "Baby Jesus" brought the gifts for Christmas, we have no fantasy characters for Easter, it's only a Catholic celebration. At 5 I already knew about "Baby Jesus", the nuns immediately informed us. I had to chew my tongue many times to say nothing to my younger brother, I thought he was really dumb.

I really enjoy moments like that. I also enjoy he things they say when they are mad at each othter. "I'm not going to be you friend for a million-hundred years. And you can't come to my Birthday party." Of course, five minutes later, they have renegotiated the contract.
