I thought this was pretty interesting. I know that I have been aiming for 64oz of water a day and I usually meet and often exceed that. I'm going to think about doing this challenge too! https://getpocket.com/explore/item/what-happens-when-you-drink-a-gallon-of-water-a-day?utm_source=pocket-newtab

It is recommended to drink the water as your body wants ! Excessive water will unnecessarily tax your kidneys and in abnormal conditions you may end up with edema!

Oh yes it should NOT be done for an extended time, nor all at once. But doing a high volume water intake for a short time can give your body a boost and help you find the correct level of water. For example, my husband was drinking 8oz, he did 30 days at 64oz and now he regularly drinks about 50oz. He needed the boost to find his normal.

@fivecandles That means he was not listening to his body, since now he started listening to the body, he started a new routine! By the way I am Equine Vet who would recognize a dehydrated horse ask my staff to do the needful as I am fro India where we have very strong summers!

You are well hydrated and your body runs the way it's supposed to. I'm not much of a water drinker, but my wife easily goes through a gallon a day. She is to the point that I can tell by her mood if she is running a little low.

I am to the point that I drink water all day long. My only exception is one cup of coffee or herbal tea in the morning and one glass of sweet tea in the evening with dinner. If I feel at all dehydrated I do not drink that glass of sweet tea in the evening and opt for ice water instead. I drink water constantly. I have no idea how much I consume during a day. I guess I should monitor that. I am staring at an empty glass right now that as soon as I am done typing this I am going to refill (as well as visit the bathroom for a tinkle break)! Much like the author of this article, I drink water in excess and I visit the bathroom in excess. I wish I had started drinking water at a younger age. I think my health would be much better if that had been the case.

I find this very childish. You can inform yourself on the net what happens if you drink too much water. There are several articles. Just a short one, "Drinking too much water can also be dangerous. Overhydration can lead to water intoxication. This occurs when the amount of salt and other electrolytes in your body become too diluted. Hyponatremia is a condition in which sodium (salt) levels become dangerously low."

@fivecandles If you can explain what the amount of water somebody drinks has to do with my happiness, I may answer your question.

Out of curiousity...do you consider yourself to be happy?

@MALUSE Maybe you need more water. Grumpiness can be a symptom of dehydration.

I drink way more than a gallon a day! I keep a 1-gallon jug with me throughout the day, and I am always having to refill it. But I work outside a lot, and being that I live in hot and humid Florida, I sweat a lot. So I need to keep drinking water to keep me hydrated and cool.

@fivecandles I am starting to drink more water but not that amount. If I drink lots of water I have to go to the bathroom a lot.
