How many cars have you had in your lifetime?

My aunt gave me my first car as she was buying a new car. I was learning how to drive in those days. It gave me plenty of driving practice. When it got old and stopped working I bought a car with five doors. My son was born in 2007 and my daughter was born in 2009. Finally I passed my practical driving test in 2010. Also that year I sold my house as my son went into a wheelchair. I bought a 3 bedroom bungalow. When he was younger I could put his wheelchair in the back of my car. He soon began to grow up so I sold that car and bought a car with a wheelchair space in it.

I've had 3 cars so far. The first was a 3rd hand (meaning I was the 3rd owner) Toyota Hilux which I used for 7 years. The second was a brand new Isuzu Hilander which was still in very good running condition when I sold it 19 years later. Presently, I have an Isuzu MU-X which my daughter bought for me in 2016 which I accepted hesitantly because my Hilander was good enough for me. She insisted that she wanted me to be driving comfortably by buying an automatic transmission time. My first 2 cars had manual transmission.

I prefer automatic transmission. The second car that you had lasted 19 years so that was impressive. It is wonderful that your daughter bought you the car that you have now. I am glad that your car is comfortable

@sunrisefan I am glad that your second car still looked new when you saw the owner in it. Sorry you didn't have that same experience with your motorcycle. I wonder how that other owner made it look so awful.

@maximax8 Thank you. I was so glad when I met the new owner of our second car last year because it still look new like it was when I sold it to him. You see, I had a very sad experience when I sold my motorcycle (which I used for 17 years) to my niece and her husband. My tears almost fell the next time I saw my motorcycle - it was almost bare and was very much the opposite of its state when it was with me - shiny like new and complete with all the accessories - horns, side mirrors, neat fenders, neat leather seat, etc. BTW, that motorcycle was my first mode of transportation.

Personally none, I do not drive. My husband, after we married, had 12 or 14, I cannot remember well.

I've never had any cars. I don't drive. I would like to be able to drive. But it hasn't happened yet.

@dodo19 I also nearly gave up learning to drive a car. I failed some of my driving tests in Kent. Then I failed one in Somerset. Yet I passed the next one in Somerset.

I regret not learning how to drive when I was younger. In England we take a theory test and a hazard perception test which we must pass before we take the practical driving test. They do a show me and tell me questions as well.

@maximax8 When I was a teen, we had a theory and driving test. I was able to get a learner's permit and did try for the driver's test, but failed. I should have tried again, but I didn't. I would like to try again.

Well I never had a car and I cannot drive. I did take driving lessons but my hands were so tight on the wheel that I could barely turn it. Once or twice after the lessons, I saw some bruising on the inside of my knees because I was shaking so much. I am scared shitless of driving and I am even scared of being in a car. My fear comes from my mother I am sure. She was also scared and she must have passed her fright to me while in utero and now I am petrified.... But my legs get me to where I want to go and I feel slightly better on a bus.... So this is my story....

Thank you for sharing your story Frank. I totally understand how frightening is was to try to learn to drive a car. I think that you feel happier riding on a bus and that is fine.

Too many to count my dear. I have had many cars all through the years. I learned to drive first in England then came back here and had to get used to the other side of the road.

Oshy isn't it funny how the people in England drive on the left side of the road. I am glad that when you returned to the USA you got used to driving on the right side of the road. I notice cars in Armenia are affordable however the drivers seat would be wrong for an English driver.

I had a car for a very short time when I was first learning to drive. I only had the car for a matter of days because it didn't work so I returned it to the seller. It was almost 10 years before I continued lessons and finally passed my test. My ex's father gave me his car but then decided to take it back rather than actually give it to me - I think he only wanted me to have it to make space on his driveway for another car. Apart from those two cars, I have had a Rover, two Peugeots, two Citroens, and a Vauxhall. Counting all of them, I make that eight (although it seemed like more when I was having to buy a new one every year or two because it was cheaper than repairs). I don't have a car at the moment, and haven't had since the beginning of this year. The main reason I got my first car (I count my Rover as the first) was because my youngest son had so many appointments in all sorts of places. We had a lot of adventures in the car that we wouldn't have been able to have without it.

I have had 6 or 7. The one that I have now should last me the rest of my life. I sure regret selling some of them and two of them were wrecked and it wasn't my fault.
