Are you dreaming of a white Christmas?

For me, that would be closer to a nightmare than a dream! We have snow once in a while, but seldom at Christmas. It might be a cold 35 or 40 F the day before, but seems like I always have to open a window on Christmas Eve while I'm cooking. Here in the southern US, when we have the third snowflake, we all rush to Walmart and stock up on bread, eggs, and milk like we'll for sure be snow bound for weeks. I know some of you probably have a white Christmas every year. Do you like it? If you don't have snow at the holidays, do you ever wish you did?

According to the weather service, we've lost two of the six inches we received on the last snowfall. So, I'm hoping we get that back and more on the next one. I don't want to have a green Christmas. That to me just doesn't look right. It's supposed to snow Monday into Tuesday. Wherever you live, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. After all, it's really not about snow, though it always helps.

Valerie, I agreed with everything you said until "it's really not about snow, though it always helps." Obviously you don't live in the south. We can't handle more than a quarter inch.

@1creekgirl I'm sure you can't. I've heard how the south hibernates when it starts snowing. Here a quarter inch isn't anything to worry about.

We often have snow for Christmas, if it's not a lot it is nice to see everything white. This year we are at home, so "let it snow".

@1creekgirl I have to plan so we can stay at home a few days, I do not want to shovel during the holidays.

a white Christmas jest seems to set the tone. used to love goin' 'n seein' all the folks lights 'n with fresh snow, made 't most magical. sadly not many decorate anymore, snow 'tis 'lso iffy this time 'f year. most oft ours waits 'til jan/feb. my sweet momma'd love to've a white'un here, though she'd then be worried 'bout the youngest comin' with the grands'n bad roads. 't the hint 'f any bad weather, she o'erstocks all like 'tis the end'f the world.

If we have snow at Christmas, I'd probably faint! It's likely to be in the high 90sF here.

I like it when we have an overcast day, but no rain, since obviously it wouldn't be snowing here, but I rather have no rain because it just gets stressful.

In some ways I'd rather have just a small snow shower than a cold rain.

@1creekgirl I love rain, but my house doesn't.

No unless it can just be a dusting which only covers the grass and trees. Then no shoveling out is necessary and we can enjoy nature's beauty without any hassle.

I also live in the South, we haven't had any snow in a few years now. I guess maybe it's becouse of the fact that when it snows here, we don't get enough for it to last long, so all it is, is a mess to me. I do have to say, it is pretty though when you first look out and see everthing covered. I did have to laugh at you stocking up, everyone around here does the same thing as you do. NO bread or milk to be found till after the snows gone sometimes.

@1creekgirl Oh yea, I have seen it at the few times we do have snow that I can't even drive down our roads.

I guess that's typical in a lot of the south. The schools are often out because the school buses aren't equipped to drive on back country roads in the snow.

I dislike snow, also, although a small dusting is fine by me. Nothing more than .00001 inches. lol.

@1creekgirl Some years we do and some years we don't. Last year it only snowed once and it wasn't bad at all.

One s**wfall per winter is enough for me. I used to play out in it until I couldn't feel my hands and feet. Now I don't go out unless I have to! I hate the cold; and I hate winter with its short days! :-)

It's like that here in the St. Louis metro area I now live. Get a couple of snowflakes and the whole place goes nuts. I am of course from Wisconsin, so we find this very funny. Either way, to answer your question I come back with a resounding NO. I hate snow. lol

I grew up with white Christmases in my home area..they were white at least 50 percent of the time. It rarely snows here in Central Virginia at Christmas time, but sometimes I go away to the North and get my "white on."

When I was in grade school the song White Christmas touched my heart. With the song I had that dream of seeing a white Christmas. But now I would hate to be seeing snow, waheehee, the cold would kill me.

Snow does look nice but the older one becomes, the less one likes what goes with snow, namely slippery roads, icy pavements --- invitations to fall and break a bone to say nothing about the constant shovelling.

Our grandson lives in Maine and he says the first couple of snowfalls are beautiful, but then it starts turning gray from dirt, etc. Not fun then.

Of course, for we don't have snow in our place. We belong to the tropical zone.
