Our Son’s In-laws are Idiots!

Right now they are in Myanmar doing as the Romans do. They are wearing masks, which I know won’t do much to protect them from the coronavirus that is running rampant. They will be doing more traveling while on vacation. Last year at this time, our son’s father-in-law suffered a heart attack somewhere in the Serengeti in Africa while on safari, then a stroke in a hospital in Nairobi. He’s been healthy and well since. However, the entire family thinks they are both idiots!

I'm going to agree with you on that one. It would have been best to wait until the pandemic is under control and no longer a threat.

@just4him Yes one can wait for a few months, and then travel. It is indeed risky at this time.

Great minds think alike! I don’t want them anywhere near my son or grandkids for a good two weeks once they return.

@DianneN Especially after last year's health scare. I think I'd be holidaying somewhat more locally for a while had that happened to me.

Not to sound mean, but how can he be healthy and well after suffering a heart attack and stroke in Africa? Those two things had to take some kind of toll on his body! I'm not sure I'd be up for world travel right now until such time as they got this coronavirus under control. No sense making it any easier for the virus to get you!

@DianneN The question is, will they be allowed back in the US if they end up in some country that the US has put on a watch list, or banned list?

He’s absolutely fine. He has a pacemaker/defibrillator or something similar and completed therapy for his stroke. He’s an active and pretty healthy guy to begin with. The idiots are in Bangkok now, which is much riskier than Myanmar.

I don't see much point in tempting fate. I'm just hoping we get through Kuala Lumpur and Perth quarantine checks - if there are any. It will be nice to be safely home.

No, I don't think that's very bright either. If I knew of a family member or friend who was in an infected area, there would be no homecoming parties for them if they decided to return back. We'd have to face time or skype because I would not allow them to be near me. Anyway, I'm glad that you son's father-in-law is doing better.

I’m with you on that! I’m staying in Florida, but hope they don’t infect anyone when and if they return. Silly to even go on a plane, too. Thanks! He’s worked all year to recover and takes this risk. It boggles my mind.

What a splendid way to ruin genes. LOL. Kidding. But I do tell my folks, who take dowries...that is the money to dominate our good genes...so be sure you are marrying somebody who has better genes.

I remember when he had the heart attack and stroke. I know it's been a year already, but I would be concerned about overall health before big time traveling again, on top of this whole virus thing. If these are the masks they are wearing - it's not going to protect them from anything - it's not even sealing all around .

@DianneN I don't know how bad it is in Myanmar just yet - but still for someone who went through all that he did last year, it's just risky. It is worrisome. How long are they going to be there?

@much2say It’s still risky, even being on a plane, if you ask me. I’m not sure how long they plan to be there, but they will travel somewhere else. They spend 2-3 weeks when they go away in February. I know she will be coming to Miami in March. I’m going to stay far away from her!

@DianneN You're most welcome, Dianne :) You're right, Bangkok is still not the safest. But they'll probably do all they can to stay safe. I think the best thing is just not to venture out that way, it's just too much of a risk.
