In the news tonight is the interview of a woman whose husband died of covid. Neighbors discriminate her and her children that they are prevented from going out to buy food. She said that she wanted to be tested so she can prove she is negative. But no testing kit, sorry. The next news waxps the mayor of Pasay City who is suspected of infection. She underwent testing.

I hope there will be more testing kits. Government resources should be reallocated to production of these testing kits.

This is the problem in our countries and if there are testing facilities, they are taking a very high amount for it

The testing kit costs $120 so it is not cheap.

@Alexandoy Yes but just yesterday our Supreme Court ordered the Government to make the testing free and take proper care of the patients

They have guidelines for who qualifies for testing. Obviously, it isn't followed and only VIPs are tested. Case in point are the politicians who are tested. Shame because our front liners should be tested first.

There is a shortage of tests here too. But poor woman . . . in the meantime I wish someone would bring her family some food to the door . . . that would be the human thing to do.

@Alexandoy How mean to do that to someone in their time of need. Surely these people are trying to protect themselves and their families - but this is such a selfish way - what good does it do to let someone starve and be helpless. I hope the authorities helped her - including getting a test!

@much2say yes, I think those cruel neighbors are over acting with their protection. They should be arrested.

Even the delivery of ordered food was blocked by the cruel neighbors. She is lucky to have contacted the tv station and was interviewed with a video. I guess the authorities have provided help by now.

That is why they should not release the names.

Releasing the name will give protection to the neighbors. But now I understand what you said about mob rule that the patient might be bullied. It is happening here.

@Alexandoy I just hope they dont take it any further. If everybody follows safe guidelines they will not be in danger from an infected person anyways.

@wolfgirl569 yes, keeping distance will make them safe. But I still cannot come to terms that neighbors would do that to a suspected carrier. I am thinking of myself that I cannot imagine to be in that kind of situation. But maybe you are right that it can happen to anyone to be discriminated because of the suspicion.

I see this as a priority decision as to who gets what. It makes sense to quarantine complete households unless they are required to be out. But the question of who should be tested and released and who needs to stay home depends? A family with a health care worker needs to be active but do we need a mayor at this time? Maybe, maybe not? It is sad people who have lost family need to isolate and grieve alone. Even bodies are being stored away until this pandemic is over.

I understand that people fear to be contaminated. But that woman and her children are humans. Why don't the neighbors go to the authorities for help instead of castigating the widow?

I agree with the shortage. But they should give priority to ordinary people and not only to government officials.

Hi! We are dealing with a pandemic, it is a global health crisis, test kits shortages are worldwide, not only in the Philippines, best thing we can do is to adhere to what the Government is asking everyone to do; that is Stay home, practice good personal hygiene, social distancing and last but the best we can do is PRAY that this will be over soon and for God to bless our Government officials with wisdom to deal with this situation in the most humane way for the benefit of the greater good, next is to ask God to bless all our frontliners with strength and good health so they can better provide care to those who are afflicted and last is for all of us to be able to comprehend that we need to unite as one to overcome this unseen adversary.

I guess we are all praying because that is the only thing we can do. Even the government seems to be confused on what is happening that they cannot find a solution.

@Alexandoy Awhile ago as I open my news update I come across to an item that Covid victims could have recovered better if they are at home. What does it imply?
