Good Morning 9/4

I am a little worried about my dad this morning. He had a physical where they did blood work, although it went OK, and they scheduled a stress test since he had told my brother in law he has had some chest pain. They said his heart rate is a bit too low and they want to adjust his meds..plus his glucose is somewhat elevated..and his kidney function isn't excellent. What really has me concerned though was that he passed by an opportunity to play golf with his buddy! If you know my dad, you know he lives for golf. I can't imagine him turning that down. My sis said he tires easily. So all combined it doesn't sound very good. If you are a praying sort send some his way..Hopefully the med adjustment will help a lot and he will have some energy again.

My dad had congestive heart failure. He lived a long time after his heart attack & diagnosis, but it took a long time to balance the medications correctly. But I suggest you keep a close eye on his meds, say if he has to go to the hospital and different doctors start treating him. Make sure nothing is being duplicated, for one thing. I hope your dad will be okay.

Thanks, he is long distance so not too much I can do in that vein. I will mention it to my mom but she isn't savvy about those things. I could have my aunt a retired nurse come and look at them though and see if she thinks they are OK.

@snowy22315 Oh, if it's long distance of course you can't. It's probably fine. But it's a good idea if there is a relative close to them. Your dad might be different than mine in the first place, though.

@LadyDuck No, probably he doesn't. Getting out and getting some fresh air and sunshine would hellp though. He could have just ridden in the cart if he didn't want to golf.

@snowy22315 I think he does not feel very well, the change of season could also be a factor.

I hope they can get his meds adjusted soon. He does sound like he is getting tired out faster. Does he use a golf cart or walk the entire course? He may need to cut back on the walking.

@snowy22315 sadly it is part of the disease. My mother loved to cook and share meals with the other residents of the building where she lived. When I was in her building to see clients, people often stopped me to ask if she was okay because she stopped bringing meals to them.

No, he uses a cart. He has dementia, and is pretty apathetic. Essentially he doesn't want to do anything. However, turning down golf is a new one.

@ElusiveButterfly Yeah, I wasn't sure if he just wasn't feeling well, or he has given up on trying to enjoy himself...maybe a bit of both.

Prayers for your dad. Hopefully, the dress test will give his doctors some insight and help him.

Thanks, I hope so. . , The med adjustment might do more than a stress test though...but they probably need that to make sure they are doing the right thing.

I hope that the med adjustment will help. It doesn't sound good at all that he tires easily and has had some pain. Have you gotten him into a program for the dementia?
