It's finished! Crocheted Shirt

United States
December 26, 2020 6:26pm CST
* The above picture ISN'T the finished product, but it's near enough. I added three rows to the sleeves. One single crochet row followed by a double crochet, chain one, double crochet and then another row of single crochet. I need to weave in the ends. It should also be noted that this is wrong side out. The seams look neater the other way around. I'm pretty proud of myself for this being my first real crocheted clothing item. I made a few mistakes but I was able to make them less noticeable by "cleaning it up" with single crochets. I'm going to make another shirt using the same tutorial that I used for this one.

I love the colors too. When I started the project I had no idea which part I was crocheting first. It wasn't until I was halfway through the rows that it became clear I was working on the sleeve of the garment. The garment fits me, but it's a piece that will be tricky to take off. The next time I make this I will add two more rows in the middle.

@LadyDuck Yes. There are still parts of crochet that I don't understand until I'm shown, but once I am shown I grasp it easily.

Well now that is lovely but it would take 3 of those to fit me.

@RebeccasFarm I do love those colors, yes. I think I might pick out an ombre yarn for the next blouse I make.

If I'm being honest, this is a little snug. I didn't put it on all the way because I didn't want to be stuck in it. I think I could probably take it off inside out, but next time I make this (which will be soon) I'll add another two rows to the middle.

Ohhhh, fun colors ! I'd wear that with some cool jeans - or a denim skirt - or any solid colored bottoms would work ! Love it! A belated Merry Christmas to you!!!

@ScribbledAdNauseum Happy Almost New Year! The ripped knee jeans - yes! I love denim shorts too, though not in cold weather .

@much2say I saw a pair of leggings on etsy not too long ago that had that ripped jeans look to them. If I remember correctly, there was plaid behind the ripped jeans look on the leggings. I have them saved because I want to buy them one day.

Merry Christmas! Getting closer to the New Year, so Happy New Year! Yes the colors just pop. I think a pair of jeans with rips at the knees would go well with this shirt. You won't find me in a skirt though.

This is cool. I am thinking you can make some for pets dogs and cats too. It will be popular and that it will be comfortable for them to get dressed in the colder weather.

Oh are there the yarn which is smoother in nature?
• United States
27 Dec 20
This yarn is a bit rough and is something I'll be wearing over a tank top. I wouldn't subject a pet to the itchy material of this yarn, but yes I think it would be a nice color for a pet sweater.

@oahuwriter Yes, I'm learning how to do that. I am going to use the same pattern I used for this blouse to make another, but with a few more rows around the middle so it will fit better.

You are getting pretty crafty lady. I am working on knitted hats again. Have about 4 to make. Mittens in a shade of blue for Little Miss are next. Her request.

I just need to work on weaving in my ends a bit better. I think part of that boils down the yarn needle. I want to get a knit yarn needle, the one with the bigger eye so i don't keep stripping the yarn. Do you hand knit or do you use on of the machines like the addi express? I've considered getting one of those.

Used to do this on my younger years but only small items like flower base center pieces. It was a nice hobby and fulfilling once you finished one.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Once you see the finished item the numbness you felt in your hands while working on it is more than compensated.

@namiya Very true. Luckily, I have not had to deal with numb hands very often. I made a blanket (the first thing I crocheted) and my hands throbbed from the pain!

Oh! I want to attempt to crochet a sunflower for one of my friends, but I've never crocheted them. The one I am thinking of would have a long, thick stem and be perfect for a centerpiece. You are right, it's a very fulfilling hobby.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I didn't learn from school, but from a friend of my mom. My school only taught cross stitched.
