How many remote controls have you found in your refrigerator?

Have you ever paused a show or gotten up during a commercial and carried your remote control with you to the kitchen? I'm sure if you grew up with a sibling you have definitely done this. Did you set the remote or even your cellphone in the fridge absent minded so you could pour that milk or open that stubborn cheese snack? Then you hear the commercials go off or someone calls your name and you scurry back to the room with the tv and sit down to continue the show? Pre - DVR you wouldn't realize your mistake until a few minutes later. You'd reach for the remote because Aunt Ethel needs you to turn the volume up and - Where's the remote? "Hey Larry I know you have the remote hand it over." Anyway... I was just thinking about this because sometimes I do some rather silly absent minded things. I've almost drank ketchup at a restaurant because I was talking and reaching for my drink at the same time. I've forgotten to put the milk back in the fridge or even put it in the freezer by accident.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I dropped one down a toilet. I thought it was my phone. I wished it had been my phone. I had no idea how to change the channel on the telly

I've certainly found things in odd places. Remote, phone. In the middle of the night last night I had to get up and look for my Fitbit. It was in the laundry room. I could do a post about my keys one time.

Someone is always home and I don't drive so I have no keys. However, I'd have to buy one of those tile locators for my keychain if I had one.

Keys. We could all possibly write several stories about keys. I do okay in the winter and they stay in my coat pocket mostly but in the summer one only knows where they may be. I finally added a hook for them near the front door but have yet to use the hook much.

I have two remotes missing in the house. I’m very sure it’s lost in the big living room under the sofa where I can’t see it and can’t move the sofa to see.

@ScribbledAdNauseum it’s okay I’ll find them at some point. We have other controllers to use on the tv. You’d do have to get up to turn the tv on and off and turn the sound bar on or up and down the volume but to pretty stays at the same level.

I have found my mobile phone in the fridge and also have forgotten to put things away. Once I forgot to go to work at a job I used to have. I got interested in something on the internet and just forgot. They were not happy with me. You are right, it is from absent-mindedness and not paying attention.

I wish I could say I'd forgotten to go to work. When I worked outside the house I would get so stressed and anxious around the time it was time for me to leave.

@akalinus Oh wow. I am sure you had to be very creative to be able to pay the bills with just that income.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It was a job cleaning a church. I did it twice a week to stretch out what I got for Social Security. I quit a year or so after that because I just could not do it anymore. I tried to make it 15 years but fell a couple of months short. When I started, I had no income except that.

It's the "I'll just set this down here for a second" thing and then you're off doing something else and forget.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It's easy to do if you're thinking about something else and lay something down.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes, it’s scary in the sense that I don’t think about it, how distracted I am, but only in that sense!

Lol....have never found the remote in the fridge, but my husband has a tendency to carry it with him and have found it sitting on the bathroom counter before.

It's funny the places you find the remote sometimes.

Ah yep, right in front of the microwave. That's another place because under the microwave is the cutlery drawer here.

so many times. My doctor comes to my house and one day he packed up and said see you next month and walked out. I looked down and started laughing because I knew he would come back right away as his keys were on my bed.

@May2k8 That is good! You may not have damaged the phone at all, but with phones as thin as they are now, it's better to be safe than sorry.

I would actually love to find the remote in the fridge - that would make things a whole lot easier here. Hubby and kids are always misplacing the remote and we spend stupid time looking for it . . . and this isn't a very big place .

Oh man! That's annoying. I keep mine on the shelf that my tv is on. I used to misplace it all the time.

It happens to place things in weird places, not the remote, but an empty cup inside the refrigerator, this happened.

I have set an empty carton of milk in the refrigerator by accident while distracted. Our bodies work on muscle memory sometimes.

Ah yes, I've done that before, especially when putting the groceries away. We don't have a key rack by our door.
