National Do NOT Call Registry

United States

I just submitted our phone numbers to the national do not call registry. I am so sick of the spam and scam calls. We get at least 10 a day. How can you be calling about my car's extended warranty when I don't even own a car? Hopefully this will put a stop to most, if not all of them!

I hope it helps, but I've registered our numbers several times and it seems even worse! I even get texts from them. I block and delete the calls every time, but nothing helps.

Does this actually work, or not? I feel like scammers don't abide to that, do they? I get tons of "local looking" calls that are not in fact local.

Well, I thought it would but now after making this discussion I am not so sure that it does.

I too get a few spam calls everyday and that can be really annoying. I have truecaller and that most of the time flashes these spam calls and I don't answer them.

Unfortunately this will not help. I let all of mine go to voicemail.

The last car you owned has a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyyyyy extended warranty. Never owned a car? Well then it was the car you had in a past life.

Yep, must be from a past life because I've never owned a car.

This is like me getting an email saying my account in Bank of America has a problem. I don't even have an account there. Most importantly, I am not even American.

Yeah, I hate those ones ("your car's extended-warranty" when I DON'T OWN A CAR, or "your credit-card's validation" when I DON'T USE A CREDIT-CARD). But I would be suspicious ... how does 'adding your name to a list' get it taken OFF of others' lists? Wouldn't it be better just to announce loudly to the pre-recorded messages, "Take Me Off of Your List!"?

We get the same problem here in the UK. The one I usually get is we are calling about your recent car accident. Which of course never happened. But if they call enough people unfortunately some people will think it is genuine.
