Why do cats knock things down?

My cat is driving me nuts! 
He is always knocking things down. He just now knocked down a basket of lotion I had on a shelf in my bathroom.
He also loves getting on the coffee table and knocking the remote controls off. Then pushes them under the couches where we can't find them.
He even stole a whole box of Twinkies and ate some under the couch!
What a little menace. I love him though.

Does Charlie have his own toys to play with?
My Chicca has many toys of her own and is not interested in anything of mine. Not even the dish of candies that I have on the coffee table. I'm lucky - but she is too

Chicca is always in the room that I am in. She is like my shadow. Even when I go to take a shower she come into the bathroom to watch

Yes, he has fuzzy balls, balls with bells in them, kicker toys, catnip toy, boxes... he even has his own room!
I am always finding pieces of candy on the floor from our candy bowl.

@mysdianait I've heard that they go into the bathroom with you to guard you because you are at your most venerable when using the restroom.

Cats often knock things down when they are bored and want to play. They like to watch stuff fall because they wonder what will happen. Hope he's okay because twinkies aren't exactly cat friendly food.

Yes, he seems to be okay, he only ate one, I think. We retrieved the rest of them from under the couch.

He is sweet when he wants to be. He is a good cat overall and we love him dearly.

@aureategloom Our Charlie is neutered as well. Hmm, maybe he will grow out of it when he gets older, he is still young. I don't think he is even a year old yet.

Although my cat has several bad habits knocking things down isn't one of them fortunately. My last cat was a big drink spiller though. Anytime you had a glass of any kind of liquid around, he went right to it. I can't tell you how many beverages got spilled..Fortunately, I was wise enough not to put them by the computer!

Charlie knocks things down, because he is not Henry. Henry is six years old, and has never purposefully knocked anything down that wasn't his. However, over the past 53 years, all of my other cats have been like Charlie.

Well cats may push things off for an obvious reason and that is that the object is perceived to be in their way. They may also be bored and trying to amuse themselves

We play with him all the time and he has plenty of toys. I don't see how he could be bored.

I love watching cats most especially playing kittens. It makes me laugh as they jump high and then fall and as they fight with their fur rising.

They like to jump up on top of things or climb hings. I know that much lol. I own dogs though. I'm a dog lover.

@AngelisaQT - never had a cat. I can only say ..he is either clumsy or extremely smart. He wants to say what are you wasting your time instead of playing with me. Your bout of exercise...whether you like it or not. The cat is your lord and master.

He looks nice and comfortable. at least you know where he is when he is in his bed fast asleep.
