How many times you cook food in a day? How many menus?

Germany

Hello Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening to all my dear mylotters? Today, I`m in a good mood to chat with you here. I always post about food and I`m pretty sure you know what I love most to do but I only cook one menu a day and that is for dinner because I prepare easy to make food for breakfast like sandwiches. I seldom prepare pancakes. That`s why I share with you one menu a day here Now I`m wondering. How many times you cook food in a day? How many menus? Do you eat different menus for different meals a day? I hope you can share it with me here Have a great day and Happy mylotting Photo: google

I usually cook once a day for supper. Sometimes my daughter will cook us lunch and we will have something easy for breakfast. If we don't feel like cooking, we pull leftovers our of the freezer and heat those up for a meal, too.

Me too. I also eat leftovers for lunch. It is really not easy for me to think of a meal because I also consider the ingredients available in my fridge

@m_audrey6788 Ingredients in the fridge, the freezer and the cabinets in the kitchen... or at Walmart down the street.

I usually cook twice in a day, lunch and dinner, on a weekday. On a weekday breakfast is usually cereal. On a weekend I do porridge for breakfast. On Saturday I don't do any more cooking. On a Sunday I then cook lunch. Tea on a weekend is usually salary stuff and nuts and a bit of vegan yoghurt.

Are you also having a hard time to think of a menu to prepare?

@m_audrey6788 Oh, no. I always have prepared what I am going to do. I have four exercise books of recipes. Today though I am just warming up some soup left over from Tuesday.

@sharonelton That`s good. Me. I have a hard time because of the ingredients. I always check on Youtube for a nice meal to prepare and what I can make out of what I have in the fridge I also eat leftovers

It depends what you mean by 'cook'. I don't count boiling an egg nor do I consider reheating a chilled meal in the microwave to be 'cooking'. There's only two of us and it's actually quite difficult to prepare a single meal for two, so I usually make a dish which will last for several meals.

Cooking is really by preparing a new menu for a meal not boiling or reheating in a microwave. I agree with you. It is not easy to think of a menu for every meal especially, that you have to consider what is available in the fridge

I prepare the breakfast and lunch in morning then dinner I will make by evening after reaching home from office. For both of us, breakfast and lunch will be similar more or less. For children make rice for lunch. Dinner will be rice and another curry dish.

Wow! I`m sure the food are good. I have a hard time thinking what to prepare in every meal. That`s why I only prepare one menu for a day. I don`t usually eat heavy meal on lunch time. I just eat some slice of bread, sausages and any kind of spread.

That`s really great. I know it is not easy to think of a menu for every meal time. How did you do it? I mean do you have a cook book or you watch from youtube? Thank you

@LadyDuck Wow! You`re such a good cook. How I wish I have the same capability like you. I can`t think of anything without a help from a cook book or by watching youtube

@m_audrey6788 I have so many recipes and I decide the menu according to what I find interesting to buy in the stores. After I make my grocery shopping, I write down a list of meals that I can cook with what I bought. I do not need to look at books or to watch YouTube.

Breakfast it depends - on school days we mostly just get out own cereal, toast or something. Some days we have griddle cakes or waffles if we are organised enough to make the mix in time! More likely to do that at weekends, or to make pancakes (much slower to cook) or sometimes even something like bacon sandwiches on special days! Lunch tends to be more snack-type things or sometimes something like an omelette - everyone gets their own. So it's only for dinner that we really cook a big meal. Often (though not always) we make something that will last two days, or even three. So one day we will cook a main course, and eat that that day and the next day, probably with freshly-prepared vegetable side dishes. Next day perhaps we will prepare a dessert, and again that may well last two or three days as well. Often we will have soup or fruit as a starter too. But although we have a three-course dinner most days, we don't cook all three courses every day.

@Fleura I understand you. It is really not easy to prepare food for kids to like. I used to cook for my siblings when I was still single and it was really not that easy especially when you need to budget your daily food.

@m_audrey6788 Now that is one of the things I like doing, planning meals. I plan stuff to keep us going for a week or two before going shopping. With fussy children it can be easy to get into a rut of cooking the same favourites over and over but then every now and then I get bored and rebel and make them eat a more interesting variety of things!

Usually the only meal we actually cook is dinner. Breakfast and lunch are simple I try to make enough for dinner that we have leftovers for another meal or to reheat for lunch the next day. I try to have something different each night so we don't get bored.
