Sadly, I had a clogged toilet last night. Plunging failed to work, so I ended up using a connoction of hot water and bleach to break up the clog. I so hate toilet clogs. There are different methods that can be used to unclog a toilet, and when roomie was having trouble with his, we ended up buying another. I would hate to have to do that, but sometimes these things need to be done. Fortunately, the clog dissolved fairly easily. What method do you use to unclog your toilet.

Unfortunately, in some cases the tree roots have grown through a sewer pipe. That's when rotor-rooter is the only method that works! They drive a mechanical devise down the sewer pipe to ream it out.

In roomie's case a new toilet fixed the issue. I don't even want to think about rotor-rooter. They are clip agents.

@kobesbuddy I didn't say it wasn't working, just that I had a clog. However, it probably does need to be replaced or will have to be at some point.

@snowy22315 Those toilets do wear out, we had to replace one of ours also. We waited too long and had to replace the entire floor. It your toilet isn't working, just buy a new one soon.

@snowy22315 I give you the link to a video. I have seen several showing the same. They wrap the toilet with plastic foil and then firmly push down. May be it works
How to Unclog a toilet without a plunger using no tools. If your toilet is clogged and you don't have access to a plunger or toilet snake, try these methods....

A mixture of hot water, white vinegar, and baking soda usually resolves the issue of clogged drains (whether toilets or sinks).

@snowy22315 I begin by finding someone on whom to pin the blame.

My son is a plumber so it it's a clog that can be unclogged (before needing a professional) he always suggests hot water and baking soda. I also use this in my shower and so far it works really well.

Yes, baking soda and vinegar is pretty effective too. We tried it all when roomie was having toilet issues. We even have a snake!

Fortunately the only thing I've ever had to use is the good plain old plunger. But after reading the responses I now have some good ideas of what to use if the plunger doesn't work

Yes, if you try some of these other things...you should have success. That is if the plunger doesn't work.

Great tip! Fortunately, my plunger has worked up till now. I guess I would try Liquid Plummer if that did not work. Wonder if your bleach and hot water would work just as well on a slow draining sink? I usually try hot water, vinegar and baking soda.
