I awoke at 4:30. I quickly realized that part of the reason why I woke up was because my husband was already up and off to doing... Well, I really don't know. Surfing the internet? Doing some work at an unreasonable hour? My waking up, of course, meant that the cats woke up as well. Since they were awake, any attempt at going back to sleep was destined to be in vain. I inevitably ended up in here, and I had the misfortune of realizing that I really had no choice but to block someone who had gone from disagreeable to wholly obnoxious. I generally don't block people, but an anti-vaxxer questioning my intellect definitely earns a block. I miss the days when one could debate religion and politics without things getting so ugly. However, those days are gone, and I don't believe that they will be coming back. Even little things that should not be controversial seem to turn into hills upon which some people seem determined to die. At any rate... The week is off and running. I've no idea what I need to actually do today other than laundry and serving the needs of our feline overlords (as must be done every day).

Why can't all of us simply accept that we all have different opinions about things and leave it at that, it's our right isn't it? Dad always told us that we should never try to discuss religion or politics with even a close friend as it could cause real problems in a friendship. This was way back in the mid 1960s when I was a teen.

I have blocked some people who operated in that kind of vain. They act like because you have an opinion different than they do, you deserve to be attacked. Also, some people are just obnoxious and bullies or are grossly insensitive in the guise of being "honest"and have no good reason to be that way.

My parents always told us not to talk politics and religion with guests.

I've run into that lately as well. I ignore people who want to be disagreeable for no intelligent reason and talk with those who are willing to have a good conversation. (I did block one person lately but they kept going into other discussions and being disagreeable to me there. I finally had to ask Mr. A. for some help in curbing the person irritating tendencies.)
