Does this number scare you?

If I was shopping with my mother and the total came to 6.66 she would buy something else to change the total. I was at Burger King about a month ago and a guys total came to take so he ordered something else. It made me giggle. Today at the grocery store my total for distilled water, bananas and iced tea came to that. I just laughed and told the cashier I wasn’t worried about it . When I left she told me good luck and laughed. I’m thanking she may be superstitious like my mom. Unrelated to this post I was given in object in the photo for free. It’s some type of food. I think a vegetable. Any idea what it is?

A number that surprises me, but it does not scare me. This looks like a jicama, or may be a sugar beet.

@LadyDuck yep it’s a deep purple. So hard to tell in photos sometimes. For some reason no camera I’ve ever used shows purple tones correctly.

@shaggin I did not suggest rutabaga because it does not look purple in this picture. If it is purple it could be.

@Bensen32 I’d be happy with that as my total for a payment. I’m not very active here so it’s months between payouts.

looks like a partially pealed turnip. They don't taste very good. I could tell for sure if I tasted it. As far as that number, yes, I too don't like it. just in case King James translated the Bible rightly. When I get to that number in a game, I play more quickly just to make it move.

@bunnybon7 I figured out it’s a rutabaga. Do they taste like turnips? I’ve never had either.

@shaggin I wouldn't know. I vaguely remember turnips taste. Never had a rutabaga Heard of them but have to look that up. Don't recall ever seeing one. How did you get this free?

@shaggin I just looked it up and I was so close! Says they look like a turnip but taste better. Savory and sweet depending on if you cook them. I'm going to have to try one now.

The number when it comes to money no it doesn’t bother me I’d be like whatever. Now I’d it is written some where it in a book or something oh hell no. That’s is the devils number and markings and I don’t not welcome that anywhere near me. Now my husband he would probably get something so it wasn’t $6.66 or $66.6. He is also OCD a little bit and would rather that end of around number like $66.00 or $66.50 he can be weird like that some times.

@ShyBear88 my husband feels the same way about the number as I do. We were talking about it a few weeks ago. That’s funny your husband is ocd about the end of the number being a 00 or 50. I know a lot of people do that when getting gas but I can never get my number to land on an even number so I just say the heck with it bad it’s usually like 12.01 or 10.01 etc

It looks like jícama to me. If it is, Pretty and I peel it, cut it into strips and eat it with dip. YUM!

@shaggin It's a root veggie and has very little flavor on it's own but works great with your favorite dips. (That name is pronounced hickama, if you were curious.)

Initially it looked like bread but when you said it was a type of vegetable, then it looks like a type of potatoe to me. I'm really not scared of that number but the bible says it is the number of a beast

@mildredtabitha it would be one giant potato. I recall hearing it’s the devils number but I don’t recall reading it in the Bible.

@snowy22315 nah there’s already to much to worry about stick with me and don’t worry about this number . I know right it’s so weird looking. I asked my husband if it by chance was a Rutabaga. He said actually it could be. I did a lot of googling other things and in the end it is a Rutabaga . Why I didn’t start my search with that I don’t know . I just don’t think clearly in the morning. It’s very heavy and large. I wish it were a donut instead!

@snowy22315 this is like oval and purple. Often these free things we get are oversize so maybe that’s why it looks different. It’s hard to tell the color of it well from the photo I posted. Mike here suggested how to cook it. I left iron the counter last night and it looks like it’s rotting already. Maybe once they are supposed to be kept in the fridge until used? It’ll just get tossed over the bank now to decompse.

@shaggin Hmm, I thought rutabagas were kind of round and purplish. Are you going to put it in soup? I mean what else could you do with it?? Salad? I don't even know!

I know what the number symbolizes . . . I'm not scared of it but it's funny because people/kids often point it out. And honestly in my mind it's what I think of too . If this photo is some kind of odd vegetable, I think that scares me more .

@much2say Yes people do always point it out it seems. It’s not something I care about at all so I’m like just like okay… I found out it’s a Swede/Rutabaga

If you turn the number upside down it's 999. Some think that's the true number of the beast. Either way, it's just a repeating number.

No, I don't mind the number of the beast It looks like a turnip or a swede. Peel it cut it into cubes then boil it and mash it with some butter...quite nice
