Rant: My Adult Student Dropped Her Class Online

I just want to end my night by ranting about the new adult student tonight. It was a 'free talk class' where she can deliver her speech in English during the class. Me: What do you want to talk about? Student: Maybe I want to share some feelings today. Me: You can say, "I want to share my feelings about something today." Student: I feel guilty of myself. Me: You can say, "I am feeling guilty about myself lately." All of a sudden, she stopped and quit the class. One thing is for sure, she needs to face the ugly truth about her performance. Thus, she is in denial of her weaknesses in grammar. How do you usually end your day? Image Credit: s18670.pcdn.co

I guess English classes are cheaper than psychotherapy. You didn't help her feel better, but that wasn't your job anyway.

You described her well. She was so grumpy in building a rapport with her at first. I am trying to ignore it but I snapped when she attacks me below the belt.

I am sorry to know this. You were only trying to help and correct. I end the day by thinking of tomorrow will be better.

I also hope everything will be fine soon. This student, I felt bad for her. She is not helping herself by being arrogant during class.

Just let her be. I think that she is not ready to accept her flaws and do not want to correct it since she feels bad when she is corrected.

She should not be. It is the main goal of learning in this type of class.

Sometimes it must be really difficult teaching online.

Yes, it is. Some of them are overconfident that they should not be. Unless they are really a good student, but she isn't.

Maybe the student just felt discouraged, it is normal for one to feel discouraged when they are not getting something. They just need motivation to keep on going.
