When l was much much younger l loved playing board games with family members and friends. My favorite games in those days were Chinese Checkers, Snakes And Ladders and Dominoes. Over the years so many more have come into play. Two which caught my interest - mostly because of the names - are : Cockroach Poker and Nuns On The Run. Actually , Nuns on the run is the title of a 1990 movie as well. Have you played any of those two games ? Which would be your favorite board games from back in the day? Pixabay image.

No but I did love to play cards like Gin Rummy, Poker or Pinochle and when I started playing board games it was monopoly or chess.

I still plan to try chess one day soon. My brother was very good at it and taught my son the rudiments of the game.

It's a fun game but very hard to win if your opponent is really good at it.

Would that be the Catholic advocacy group that tours the country ( the US) on a bus?

@Kandae11 That's for sure but not the kind of violent games that are played today on mobiles or laptops.

These days it isn't easy finding someone to sit and play with. Most prefer to be online doing stuff.

I never heard of those two newer games you mentioned. I loved the game Clue from when I was a child and continued to play it with my own kids. It's one of our favourites. I didn't have a lot of games growing up, nor anyone to play them with. I remember getting two Kerplunks one Christmas. My dad would play rummy or crazy eights with me. My neighbour had a game called Masterpiece which we played a lot. Since my kids were little I would have at least one new game under the tree every year. We had two cupboards filled with board games. We had to purge but we still have a lot of them (though very little time to get together to play). The girls and I like to play Ticket to Ride. With my husband we have played games like Inomia and a big party favourite is Apples to Apples.

@Kandae11 Yes, everyone is working different shift in our household. We played a lot of games during the 3 month lockdown period and usually over Christmas break we will find some time, but that's about it.

Wow! those are a lot of games. I will check the internet to see what some of them are all about. Unfortunately these days people are spending less time with each other, so less time for board games.

I never heard of Nuns on the Run. I used to love board games when I was younger. One I used to really like which was kind of a combo of card game and board game was Hands Down. It was hilarious. Clue, Monopoly and the Game of Life were good too.

No board games? ever? Well some children would prefer outside games, more physical activity and better for one's health anyway. However when it is raining or snowing or the weather is too hot, board games and a suitable snack would be perfect.

I remember those you mentioned first. There are lots more board games available now and some are really interesting. I play a lot of Ticket To Ride online but we also have the board game.
