Do you ‘drink’ eggs?

As some of you know, I have a mini retail store and when I’m not myLotting I tend to my customers. Yesterday an old woman came to buy two pieces of eggs. I thought she’s gonna cook them for breakfast or something but to my surprise she cracked them eggs and slurped them whole. Whoa! I was thinking of salmonella while she was licking her lips. Am I correct to be squirming inside? Photo is not mine but looks like the eggs I sell here.

The CDC estimates that 1 in 20,000 eggs are infected with salmonella. So she has very little chance of contracting it by eating fresh eggs. When I was a bodybuilder, yes, I drank two eggs every morning before starting my workout. I never had a problem from doing that.

I drank it once mixing it in the milk as someone told me it's healthy but I didn't like the taste so stopped it and never had it again.

I never tried it once as I did not want to risk getting sick in the first place.I'd rather not take those chances.

My grandfather used to drink the eggs from his own hens, he did during about 60 years and never had a problem. I do not because I do not like raw eggs, the eggs sold here are "pasteurized" to avoid salmonella.

@sol_cee YES, the eggs sold her are pasteurized, so that people can prepare a mayonnaise without fearing to get salmonella.

Thankfully, I get my eggs free-range from a friend. I boil them soft and runny or sunny-side-up runny in butter.

10 Sep 22
@sol_cee The lady raises her chickens free to roam and forage food in her property. They are not caged chickens, not fed hormones... etc. Hence, free-range. She sells eggs to me for a fair price. $3 instead of $8 commercial. :-)

Older people in the province are really doing that but they use the native eggs from native chickens not the white eggs produced from poultries as results of feeds.

Occasionally, I would "drink" raw eggs mixed with rootbeer. I separate the yolk throw away the white, beat the yolk then add the rootbeer. Just one egg for a can/bottle of rootbeer.

@sol_cee I know egg whites has a lot of uses. But Would i still put effort to cook, beat, whip or keep an egg white from a SINGLE EGG??? Lol ? To me that sounds funny. Wouldn’t waste time or effort for that, wouldn't be even enough to be used for my plant’s leaves hahaha. But if its a good plenty at least half a dozen or so; that I would surely not just throw away but put to good use. Much more if its for baking it would surely take more than just an egg in most occasions.

Dinking raw eggs is perceived as a healthy, fast way for bodybuilders and athletes to consume protein and recover from intense workouts.I however like my eggs being cooked properly and not having them eaten raw in the first place, plus I'm not an athlete.

She must have been hungry that she chose to eat it raw and not bother with cooking it anymore. But I know those in the bodybuilding they are doing it for some reasons eating raw eggs. Sometimes they mixed it with the juice they make. I love eggs but it should be cooked first. I think I cannot take it. I remember when it was my first communion I was given raw eggs as breakfast since they say I should receive holy communion on an empty stomach. But that was the only recollection I had it and I could not remember how it tasted.
