Larger Suits Me

What size handbag do you prefer to use when you go out? Men can give their input too - Do you carry a backpack or just a wallet when you go out? I prefer the larger handbags, whether they are in style or not. Mainly because l take quite a few items in my bag. These necessary items include : keys, cosmetic bag, sunglasses, tissues, wallet with ID and money, cellphone, novel, notebook and pen, scarf, an extra pair of shoes and a folding umbrella if l suspect rain. Of course, for certain events l will opt for a smaller bag or clutch purse. So which do you prefer - large or small? And what are the must have items in your bag? Pixabay image

I no longer carry bags but I had every stylish one known to man when I was working salons and travelling. I now wear a waist band with a small purse in it so no one can grab it from me..you have to be safe around here. If I were to buy one..probably Dolce and Gabbana.

@Kandae11 i went to medical high school, so that "antibacterial spray" was a must even before COVID-19

I like a medium sized bag. If the purse is too big, or has too many pockets I lose things in them. I am starting to hate the one I have now, because the coth keeps getting zipped in the bag, and then it won't zip all the way, Unless I resolve this problem quickly, I am going to go back to one of my "retired" ones.

Now that can be very annoying - the fabric getting caught in the zipper. I sometimes have that experience because l prefer large bags with many compartments.

I also love bigger bags -- and I prefer backpack, I don't really fond of buying purse or handbag because just like you I have a lot of things to bring when going outside. Hehehehe... I love bringing a book so I wont get bored on long rides, I also have my notebooks and pens, and my laptop, my umbrella and my jacket. This is a fun post. Thank you for sharing and letting us write down our thoughts too. God bless and have a great day.

@Kandae11 yes, always! Hehehe, sometimes I wish I have a car and a driver so I can leave my stuff inside the car and enjoy a cute handbag while strolling inside the mall. Hehehehe. The reason I can't have a handbag even wen I am just visiting a friend or go sopping is because of my umbrella and jacket, I can't go without them... I can always insert a cute little notebook and a pen, but I can't shrink my umbrella and jacket inside a cute handbag. :)

A little smaller than the one in the photo. I am not tall and small frame, a too large handbag is not appropriate to my figure. I never put an umbrella or an extra pair of shoes in my handbag, but keys, documents, the cellphone, a pen and a small notebook, credit cards and money.

@Kandae11 I am 5ft 2", large looks bad on me. I bring a medium size bag, as I also add a few things, like mask, a some tissues, a couple of pens and a small shoehorn, just in case I see a pair of shoes I like and I want to try them on.

I am 5ft 5" without heels, so an oversize bag shouldn't look too bad on me. Those items you mentioned would hold comfortably in a small or medium size bag.

I carry a wallet. Pretty hates carrying anything so I carry her license and cards. *shrug* She never goes anywhere without me, so it doesn't really matter.

As I am a pack rat, I used to always carry the bigger purses. And then when I had kids, the big diaper bags became my purses . It was a while before I had a "real" purse again . . . I could do with a medium size. But I didn't use any purses during the pandemic (I used pockets and a fanny pack). Now I have a tiny shoulder clutch - still trying to be as minimal as possible, but more styling .

@Kandae11 Oh, fanny packs are those little zippered pouches worn like a belt around your waist. I have a lot of lightweight jackets . . . they had pockets in them, and I often wore them in public during the pandemic - and yah, sometimes in pant/jean pockets if I wore them. Being in pandemic, it only helped to be hands free (and not have to touch stuff) as much as possible !

Pardon my lack of knowledge, but what is a " fanny pack" ? I guess you are a jeans type of person since you mention pockets? Yes the covid pandemic has changed a lot of things during those two plus years it was raging.

Not so much a handbag for me, I carry a 'manbag' on my expeditions to London. I carry a music player, an eBook, notebook with coloured pens and a map. Mustn't forget a bottle of water. I can't afford to fell into the River Thames, I'd be straight down to the bottom!

I have medium sized leather bags. When my children were little, I always found several things in my bag that did not belong to me. Now, I still carry large leather handbags. Mostly books, and 5"4" 300 page note pad in it. :-)

I like a crossover bag, they are on the medium size. I stopped carrying an actual wallet several years ago, I have a billfold carrier which holds all of my cards-my ID, debit, credit and store club type of cards as well as a few photos, then a change purse type of wallet where I can keep bills folded, keep my loonies and toonies in a zippered pocket and the rest of the change in a regular pocket. That and my phone are must haves when I am shopping for a purse. Like you, I have many pretty clutch and smaller bags for dress up affairs. Those purses never get enough use since Mr Covid came to town.
