Rant: Never Argue with the...

...students online. My former online tutorial company required all of their virtual instructors to follow this policy. A 13-year-old student in my online class was poorly prepared. I did everything I could to accommodate him, but the nastiness is just incredible. Almost all of his lesson's questions were left unanswered. I advised him to prepare for his class the next time at the end of the lesson. Then, he starts to argue and becomes very defensive. He reported the problem to the company, and yesterday my account was disabled. Is that how they handle fairness? This is what they do after more than eight years of working with them. I have to express this concern because I can not bottle this up. Since I still have one more company to work with, it will be my new beginning to work as a virtual teacher. In the process, I am still hunting for other jobs online and choosing which one suits me. Image Credit: bonitavistacrusader.or

I think that online school is for profit and would always want their students to be pleased and is not concerned about the welfare of their online teachers.

You said it right. I have been a martyr teacher with this company for so many years. Now, it is time to let go and find another one.

That is horrible. I can’t believe he isn’t doing his work and when you point it out that your account got disabled. That’s terrible and I hope you are able to make ends meet.

You said it right. A friend of mine told me to appeal, but I refused to do so. It is time not to work with them.

As of today, I found a new one. I will have my training and final interview tomorrow. I still believe in karma. Hopefully, they would have bad outcomes for treating us like this.

Sorry for your suffering, the young student was nasty and touchy,in my opinion.the tutorial was irresponsible and thoughtless to handle the event like that. Why not investigate the truth of arguement.apparently, you suffered a unfair judgement. But maybe leaving for another company is better.wish everything will be ok with you.

I regret to inform you that some pupils or students in your nation are not very respectful to virtual instructors. I'm not saying all of them, but some of those who came from the country behaved badly.

I found a new one and the other one would still be a backup. It is not a good thing to work in a Chinese company.

That doesn't seem fair at all. If you've gone out of your way to help someone, why should you be I trouble because they weren't prepared? I suppose it would need to be investigated but I hope your account is reinstated.

I am sure they will not reconsider this. As they problaimed the policy that immediate termination once arguments arised during the class, which I did not do.

That's quite unfair and not nice at all. At 13 years this student has his whole life ahead and he needs to learn to be more mature.

That is what I am thinking, too. Despite the fact that he has behavioral problems, the company will still take his side. In my view, it is their lost.

I discovered a new one, although it doesn't look too promising. But as long as I continue to look for the perfect one for me, having it is OK.

Wow eight full years? they didn't even bother talking to you? is there a program that records your online activity with the student? I would be ANGRY if I were in your situation. as if online teaching is easy, no different from actual teaching. except that discipline some one online is harder.

Recordings of every class were made. Imagine how degrading they are to the virtual instructors. Even if they speak with me, they won't ever pay attention to us. Time and effort will be wasted. I still believe in negative karma, and I believe that it will cause more harm to them.

That must be difficult I guess it must be easier to deal with students when you are all physically together in a classroom

It is preferable to hold classes offline at some time. Additionally, I believe that it depends on the culture that a nation practices.Students in China's rural areas exhibit behavioral issues, as I have observed.

That is very unfair indeed. Hopefully, the company might one day realise that this kid treats all his tutors badly and suspend HIS account.

I'm hoping they can. I doubt they would be able to suspend him. The business consistently practices "money talks."

if the student does not understand about online classes, they should ask a lot of questions and what steps must be taken instead of arguing and not finding a way out. I hope they can understand a lot about online classes and not just turn on the teacher. have a good day in your new place.

It should be done that way. This student is so arrogant and not that smart enough to have his class online. He argued but cannot even express himself fluently. Let's see what happen to him in the future. He'll know how bad he is in dealing with people.
