Then and now. Not young any longer.

I have been leaving the house unclean (except for the kitchen and bathroom) and told Anita that I was in quarantine. That was just an excuse. I did not feel like going near here all the time telling her what not to do. But next week I´ll make a list and I will make her clean everything but the bathroom and kitchen. I will leave the floors hor her to clean when I´m taking my nap though. For many years I did all my chores with no help at all. I met Leticia when I had my back surgery and soon after that my husband died and Claudia came with her family to live in the second floor of my house. Then Tomás got ill and Claudia and her husband gor a new place to live. For a while I even stayed at my brother´s house because Tomás could not climb stairs. Leticia went with them cared for Tomás until he died and when Claudia got pregnant from Vicente, she was Vicente´s nanny (and I think also Claudia´s nanny). And I did all my chores. Then I got that d***ed cancer and Leticia took care of me. I get angry sometimes when I discover that every day there is something else I can´t do. Now I have to call a lady once in a while to "do" my toe nails. I cannot reach them and I don´t even see them well. I blame Luna for my messy garden but the truth is that I can´t keep it as I used to. Friends, this is a rant! Once in a while I have to say it aloud or write it. Sorry.

I sympathize with you because I'm in the same boat. Hubby can no longer cut my nails; so I have to go out to a doctor to cut mine. Hubby's cousin (our housekeeper) has to do more and more for us. It's a sad situation.

I always dreamed about having a nice and painless heart failure while I was sleeping and go to the other world in peace. I guess it will not be so.

How wonderful that Leticia was there for you. I have to have someone do my nails too. Remember your rant when I do my next one.

@marguicha .......As we live and see more we find more to rant about. It is healthy to rant. Holding it all in is what is bad for us.

@celticeagle I agree. But still, most of the time I find that my life has been very good.

There was a time when I had nothing bad to say about life. Yet I still ranted once in a while

Sometimes we just need to rant . Certain things in life get hard . . . or harder . . . this I had to witness about my father this month. And I feel these things creeping up on me . . . and then I try to plan for the future . . . but I am sure there are many things that happen in time that we cannot plan for.

Life can get difficult sometimes. And when we retire, we have (at least in my country) more money problems than the ones we had when we were active.

@marguicha Oh retirement - anyone who can get to that point and live comfortably is fortunate. I don't know about retirement or the future of it for generations here .. . so many stresses in this world.

This is the problem of aging. I used to take care of my Mom's toe nails and now I do the same for my husband. I hope I can continue to cut mine.

Fortunatly there is a lady who goes to houses to cut the toe nails for a reasonable price. Still, when I´m at Dixie´s she does it for me and my daughter´s also do it once in a while.

@marguicha - Every time that I visited Mom, I took care of her nails and toe nails. Every month I dyed her hair and trimmed.

Getting old is not a problem of age as I found out. I aged suddently after I had chemo and I was in my early 60s.

@wolfgirl569 I know. And chemotherapy not only destroys bad cells but all our cells.

You are doing the best you can. There is absolutely no reason for me to have someone come clean this apartment except for the fact that I don't like to do it.

In my next incarnation I will be rich. There are lots of household chores I don´t like to do. And there are others that I liked to do but now I´m too old to do them. Probably then I will be asking for food at the best restaurants in town. I have a lot of ideas for my next life

I reserve to myself the right to be a grumpy old man sometimes. It is frustrating. I understand. I still out work a lot of the younger generation but the truth is I run out of gas before the day is over and I find that hard to accept.

I am all the way with you. Often I feel the same but being on my own I have to say whatever happens around me in my apartment I am happiest at my PC and doing my work. I do have to get some stuff cleaned up here especially because of the cats they deserve a cleaner place so I will do my best this week,

My dog is an outside dog. I could not keep my house reasonably clean if Luna lived indoors. But then, she is too big to be here.

I hear what you're saying. I can still cut my toenails - just but it won't be long before it's beyond me. Leticia has been a wonderful support to you all.
