The first day of the new year was a good day for me. I picked up after myself and got ready to go to my brothers house for lunch/dinner. The traditional.... Ham, collard greens, black eye peas and cornbread. My sister in law added potato salad and fresh made cream corn. Dessert was peach cobbler. My sister in laws sister brought her best friend and I got to finally meet her. I called my elderly friend (she is 95) and talked a while with her. I turned on the water and found where it's leaking, now I just have to buy the pipe and fix it, I hope it'll be easy as it looks. I chatted with my neighbors, got me a new year hug, that made me smile. Last I called my uncle and we talked for the longest. I did a little research before bed, read a little from a new book I had bought weeks ago at work. My first day of the year was good, getting back to me and interacting with others. How was your new year day?

Very quiet, we had our traditional lunch, then rested while listening some old songs and going through photo albums.

It sounds like you had a great day, and was one you needed. New Years not the greatest. My team played horribly and won't be in the play offs.. They need to ditch that coach and the QB.

I am glad to hear the new year started off well for you. I have also had good days now and slowly working out my goals for January. Our weather is great now with the sun and in the 70s.

Your meal sounds delicious. My first meal in almost a week. Had some pinto beans and cornbread. That was all I could handle. But enjoyed real food. Take care.

We saw the New Year in with friends so got up pretty late. We went out for a late seafood lunch which was very pleasant.

I called a few people l knew on New Year's Eve (not close friends) just checking to see how they were doing. Unfortunately some had passed on early in 2022 - and there was good news about others. I have started the year with a bit of apprehension, but l hope for the best.

My wife got not only a hug from me but from her children, grandchildren and in-laws. It feels good to hug someone especially your family members.

I'm glad it was a good social day for you - and a tasty day too! We brought my mom some food - and we all took a walk with her around the neighborhood. I made a Japanese New Year's soup for dinner - which is actually supposed to be for breakfast .
