My daughter used to talk to plants and said they talked back to her. Do you talk to plants or do they talk to you? I found an article that says tomatoes scream when you take them off the vine. They make click and pop. Plants also tell you when they are stressed or want water. Do plants ever talk to you? What do they say? Do they grow better when you tell them they are beautiful and lovely to you?
TOMATO plants “scream” when one of their stem is cut off, a study claims. They also makes sounds “like bubble-wrap being popped” that can be detected from more than three feet away when they are th…

Yes, I talk to my plants. They talk to me by wilting if they need more water or if they get an aphid infestation. They tell me they're getting too much sun by the tips of their leaves changing color or starting to shrivel up. I don't know that they grow better because I talk to them, though.

One summer, I started talking to the tomato plants. I told them they were beautiful and grow the best fruit ever. I said people love them and eat the little tomatoes because they are so sweet. The harvest that year was the best I ever had.

@DaddyEvil I was into the canning thing at one time. I did some with my best friend. We knew a farmer who gave us fruit and veggies for helping him with farm work. One year, we dug up all his potatoes and got grapes, cherries, and veggies for our labors. We made grape jelly and cherry jam.

@akalinus Yes I do hear a noise every once in awhile. What I have been noticing lately is the leaves waving. There are no fans going and they are not near the heat ducts. It is pretty cool to see this.

Did you ever hear a blip or pop from a plant? That is how they talk. I don't think they will start singing or yelling at you.

@much2say Yes, we need plants and they do better when you encourage them to grow. They are happy when you treat them well. Your plants are probably the best for your loving care.

I hope you wave back at them. They really like you and would be insulted and hurt if you ignored them.

@Deepizzaguy Some day you might be walking along and you hear something call your name. You look around and see a tree laughing at you and dancing around. It could be the wind but maybe it is just talking to you.

No, but I was just reading an article the other day that said plants do emit sounds when they are under stress. There is like a popping noise that occurs.

I think that is why scientists started investigating it. Many people claim to have heard the sounds distressed plants make.

I do talk to my plants. I have inside and outside plants. I tell them how pretty they are and how big they are getting. I also found that plants like music and so do I. So let the music play.

What kind of music do you play for them and yourself? I heard they like classical and not rock-n-roll.

I don't talk to my plants. But I did read about an interesting experiment done many years ago. Someone put a plant in an enclosed room and only played rock music non stop in the room. The plant didn't do well after a period of time. Then they put another plant in the same room but played classical music non stop in the room. That plant survived, grew and flourished.

That is interesting. They like classical music more. A lot of classical music is calming and soothing. Rock is loud and busy.

I do talk to my plants. Though in my lifetime as a hobby gardener, I have never heard my plants talk back to me. When I clip their leaves and branches, I always say "sorry" and when I pick their fruits or flowers, I say "thank you."

@akalinus I know trees and plants and trees are living beings.Years ago I had read a book about them.I came to know trees and plants express their feelings and talk to each other.Once I tried to talk to a huge and old banyan tree that was lhat is located at the jungle I used to visit every evening.I don't know if it understood my language. After some days I got bored and gave up talking to it.

I have heard that trees express emotions too. I read a book about a boy who talked about nature. I can't remember the plot but he said a group of trees was crying and screaming for days. Then a company of loggers came through and cut them all down. Somehow the trees knew they were in danger and could not do anything about it because they could not walk or leave the place. I think about that boy and his message often. I saw a banyan tree once when I visited the Florida Keys. That is an impressive tree.

@Shivram59 That is interesting. Does he say how he knows this? Did he do experiments on groups of trees? I do believe it, I feel sorry for trees. They sit in one spot for many long years, bored. I am sure they want to take a hike over the hill and see what is on the other side. I do think they keep many secrets and wish they could talk.

@akalinus Plants are like us and other animals. They ars living beings. This was demonstrated by the eminent Indian scientist Dr.Jagdish Chandra Bose more than a century ago.He showed that trees know when they are safe or unsafe. They become happy or sad or terrified.
