What does a retired woman do to fill her days? TV? Nah!, Card games? Nope!

I have been out of work since 2014, and regarded losing my job at 70 not a bad thing, just had to work out a few things. Then, I really had time to do what I love, make art! I have sewn clothing all my life, but now mostly I make Art Quilts, not to be confused with bed quilts. An Art Quilt is like a painting in cloth. My images come from my travels abroad, from my reading, from my strange sense of humor, and my camera. Some are protests, some are jokes, some are achingly sad or beautiful. All are wall hung, sewn in cloth. The first is from a trip to Afghanistan in 1978 before the Russians came in and ruined the neighborhood. The Buddhas of Bamiyan stood tall 185' and 135' carved from the rock wall in their niches, about year 600 ad until the Taliban blew them up in 2001.

Your Art Quilts are beautiful and I can image how many hours of work it takes to complete one. Afghanistan suffered so much during the past years and now they are back to Taliban imposing their laws and treating women like slaves. I watched a beautiful movie about Soviet-Afghan war. It is a bout an American congressman who was the only one who did something so that Afghans could chase the Russian. You should watch the movie "Charlie Wilson's War", Tom Hanks the actor.

I've heard about those Buddhas, how sad that the taliban had so little respect for history and other peoples faith.
