Hi all, I know it's been quite awhile since I've been on here, and I hope all of you are doing well, winter has given way to spring/summer here in the northern hemisphere and it all seems to be a blur to me. In the middle of March I came down with something called vasculitis. It all happened when I spontaneously broke out in little red dots on my calves. Those turned in to huge bruises. It took a lot of doctoring and tests but finally it was figured out to be vasculitis - an autoimmune condition that affects blood vessels in the legs. Feeling lousy is a part of it. And for a few days at the end of April I felt absolutely lousy. I figured it was the vasculitis. I should have known better when it was hard to breath and do things like walk to the bathroom without feeling faint. On the morning of April 26th I barely made it to the bathroom without passing out. When I looked in the mirror I was as white as paper all over my face. No color in lips, cheeks... so I figured that was probably not real great, and told my mom to call the ambulance. In the half hour it took for them to get here and take me to the nearest ER the pain got worse, and I remember screaming. That's all I remember, until I work up on May first , 5 days later, in a hospital an hour and a half away. What had happened - my heart stopped at my local ER and it took 45 minutes of CPR to bring me back. My heart stopped because my lungs had a blood clot. My heart isn't damaged. Neither is anything else. Once I was stabilized - I was put onto a machine that did a lot of work for my heart and lungs, similar to a bypass machine, I don't remember - I was in an induced coma for those 5 days. I have had numerous medical professionals and friends alike tell me that I'm a miracle. It's humbling. I feel like I have a purpose here and that God didn't take me home because I'm not done with whatever I have yet to do. So many stories from the hospital but will save those for other posts. I'm home and recovering, other than pain from the vasculitis, and my energy being all time low... I am expected to make a full recovery happy to say. Happy to be alive. God is good and I'm grateful to say that I fully feel like I received a miracle Photo: Pixabay

Wow, that IS a miracle. I can't believe how many young people are having cardiac arrest, and now you. So was trying to rest from the pain of vasculitis (sp?) what brought on the blood clot? Your poor mother must have been a wreck. I am so glad you are still here, and God absolutely has a bigger purpose for you. What is your follow up care right now?

Thanks, yes I am so blessed to be here. Yeah, that was one thought - not being as active (due to the vasculitis pain) brought on the blood clot which went and got stuck in a lung. :-( Though they can't tell for sure. It could even be a genetic thing. God is good
