My Son Nearly Left This World!

August 20, 2023 7:55pm CST
I woke Wednesday morning with a nagging feeling in my gut that something was wrong. I gave my kiddo her breakfast and looked at my messages while I made my coffee. As I read the messages from my daughter and ex-daughter in law I started to panic. They said my son messaged them to say goodbye. I looked at his Facebook page and saw disturbing videos. I knew he was in distress. I realized that my 22 was missing. I called my son and got no answer. I then called 911 to report that my son was suicidal and had my 22. They dispatched me to the state troopers. When I finished my call with them my phone rang. It was my son crying and telling me that he shot himself and he didn't want to be alone. Said he couldn't feel his legs. I asked where he was. He was at the brook where he always went to meditate. I told him to hang on and breathe!!! I then called 911 for an ambulance. I stood in my driveway as sheriffs cars were Speedo up the road. They stopped to get more information from me. I was frantic and lost my composure and couldn't stop crying. A car pulled in my driveway and the lady asked if I was okay. I almost said yes I was okay. But I shook my head and said no. She got out of the car and hugged me then asked what she could do. I went I stand told Little Miss to go to my friends house next door. I called her to let her know what was going on. She said not to worry as she would keep Little Miss as long as I needed her too. The officers were not looking in the right place and I yelled out that they need to find a place where there was a refrigerator in the water. When one particular officer heard that he knew exactly where my son was. The rescue squad, members of our local fire department, and sheriff's department pulled him from a steep embankment. I freaked when I heard LifeNet was canceling because of the weather. The rescue squad drove him to a hospital in the next state. My brother, and his wife and nieces came to support me. I needed them so badly. Friends also came to offer me a shoulder. The lady that pulled over stayed with me and even drove me to the hospital. She stayed til my son was in recovery. Told me she would take me to visit my son on Friday. He made it through the surgery but woke in severe pain. He had narrowly missed his heart, but the bullet had ricocheted off a rib and hit his lung, stomach, intestines and damaged his diaphragm. This had been his third attempt at leaving this world. He said he doesn't know why he's still here. I told him that God has a plan for him and it wasn't his time. He said that it's time to figure out what that plan is and learn to love his life. Thank you dear Lord for continuing to watch over my children. I am ever grateful.

Poor thing! I'm glad that the rescue squad found him and got him to the hospital. Was the woman who pulled over someone you know? It was very good of her to look after you.

I hope he gets the help he needs and learns to love himself. Until he does, this will keep happening and his body will finally give out.

He will receive psychological treatment at the same hospital. I've heard it is a good program.

@ElusiveButterfly Yes, he would be committed or in jail. I'm glad they're helping him instead of just arresting him.

Oh, how terrible!! I just can't even imagine your pain and anguish. When our babies hurt, we hurt, too. I hope he can get some help. I am so sorry he is in terrible pain, but am so glad he is still here on earth. You are right, he is here for a reason. I truly do hurt for all of you.

@ElusiveButterfly How is your son doing now? I hope he isn't in physical pain...depression is so hard to watch, especially when we love the person and feel so helpless about knowing what to do.

Thank you. He fears that they will give up on him and leave him floundering again. I plan on speaking with the social worker tomorrow to see if there is a plan in place.
