Food Porn: "Dorayaki"

For breakfast, I created the Japanese style of pancakes called 'dorayaki.' They are also the same pancakes that we make. However, they are a bit smaller in size, with chocolate filling between two small dorayaki in Japan. As for me, I am fine without the fillings. I can just spread some butter or jam on them. I did it from scratch with the use of all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and 2 eggs.  Are you into hot pancakes?

Impressive! We buy the dorayaki with the red bean filling (I can't get used to chocolate filling for those kinds of Japanese snacks). We do make homemade pancakes though - maybe more American style than Japanese.

I have not explored using the red bean filling. I need time to learn it first. I think we can use other fillings.

@Shavkat I just grew up on the red bean filling - so any other filling is just strange to me - but I know in Japan they have these other fillings now. I know my kids would prefer the chocolate .

@much2say I was thinking to make an oreo dorayaki. I am sure the kids will enjoy munching them.

I love hot pancakes. Usually without fillings. I put butter and maple syrup on them.

They looked delicious, I see. I hope you had a good time at your meal. My wife had cooked it for quite some time because we had a lot of it during the lockdowns and I guess we got tired of taking them for breakfast.

This is the first time that I have created pancakes from scratch. I enjoyed learning new things. I can do this if the wet season comes to our country.

It looks like it. I am not sure if there is a Chinese version in doing pancakes.

My main goal is to do baking and cooking the hard way for now, since I am not a good cook. I anticipate that if the wet season comes, I will be able to make some from scratch. The commercialized ones can be used, too. They do taste good.
