Guess what..

My husband uses the phrase “Guess what” a lot! He waits for a guess and expects one. I once in awhile get them right but rarely. In the past two days he’s done this 4 times. I can’t remember his answer when he asked me if I knew what’s good about being a woman. My response of “They don’t get prostate cancer?” wasn’t correct. He asked me “Guess what’s good about drinking wine?” I said “It tastes good?” Nope his response was “It’s the closest buzz you can get to the feeling of being high”. When we were driving to town in my car he said “You know what I should have gotten you for Christmas?” I said “a new muffler” and he said “exactly a new exhaust!”. He and his son fixed it in the fall and a part fell off. He hasn’t looked to see what it was but it’s incredibly loud. The last thing he asked was “Guess what I’m going to do if it stays warm like this outside?” I guessed “Finish putting the siding on the house?” Nope it was to get a load of stone to fill in the massive holes in the driveway. I’ll be thrilled he’s been saying he was going to do that for 3 years. I actually hate guessing I’d rather just be told what it is he has to say. I will only guess once and then I refuse to guess any more. 1 out of 4 correct guesses I thought was a good ratio for two days. Photo some pretty flowers I saw back in August.

Well, playing guessing games seems harmless enough compared to the other crap he does. Pretty flowers!

@snowy22315 anyone else I’d probably just say I don’t know tell me but I make one guess since he seems to like this game. Once I kept guessing three times and he still didn’t tell me so I quit. How long would he go on

Maybe that's his love language. I'll tell you the most OVERused word on all social media platforms, texts, teen talk, YouTube, you name it. It's "literally".. And it's the younger ones using it the most, the ones trying to sound a whole lot smarter than they really are. It's funny how a certain word can gain popularity so fast. It LITERALLY drives me nuts, especially when I hear someone using it in the wrong context. Think about it, do I literally go nuts when I hear people using it over and over again? No. It just annoys me. So as you can see, literally is too strong a term to be used and abused. But what are you gonna do.. fads. P.S. Beautiful flowers bottom right! Love that color. And the yellow one reminds me of a big sunshine. Great photo collage

If “the language of love” works on you, and you also love flowers, would you like to be serenaded by this song?

@Melanie_Marie oh yes that does get used incorrectly. My daughter has a very odd way of pronouncing it too. It’s funny. She’d be ranting and I’d giggle about how she said it and she would get so mad. When I was 7 I thought literally meant the exact opposite of what it does and told a boy I was going to literally kill him.

@much2say I do that sometimes as well but mostly with other people. My husband likes the game it seems and so I go along with it once to make him happy.

Ah, the guess what quiz. It’s a good way of dragging out telling someone a fact, or non-fact. Sometimes it’s just used to grab your attention and trying to gain your interest before giving out the information. If you are someone who “doesn’t listen” to his inane drivel, then I can understand why he does it.

@Orson_kart he doesn’t talk a lot but if he drinks or goes hunting he comes back and talks my ear off about it .

@shaggin You are so right. My husband is not all the time very nice either, he is always right and he always has to criticize what I do.

@LindaOhio I am not a fan of them at all either. He seems to like them a lot though so I’m willing to guess one time.

@RebeccasFarm I’m not impressed either but he likes to make me guess and it’s not hard to make one guess at least knowing he likes it. He has 10 days off work let’s see how much he accomplishes. So far the usual Saturday morning hunting. My little one just fell asleep next to me. I did the dishes, washed a load of laundry, and wrapped three presents. I barely slept last night and couldn’t easily fall asleep but instead I’ll go get stuff done while she sleeps.

Maybe he likes playing guessing games with you. My husband always asks me and than I tell him yes or no. Mostly yes.

@jstory07 I think it’s just how he likes to start his stories Im not sure . I play along once because I know he likes this game. Once I guessed like 3 times and he still would have kept having me guess I think so I said just tell me.

@sallypup it’s a little weird for me but it makes him happy I guess. I’m not positive of my plans for Christmas yet.

My husband hates playing this game but sometimes I say 'guess what' but then I remember and immediately tell him 'what'.

@Judyev I do say it now and then too which I guess is weird because I don’t ever wait for them to guess I just tell them.
