Were you “Matchers”?

My sister loves to dress her family alike at Easter and Christmas. I think they all look adorable, but I wonder when Amyra, the oldest, will get tired of that. You know how teenagers get. I think my mom may have dressed my sister and me (pictured) alike when we were babies and toddlers, but she refrained from doing it once we got much older. I think it’s adorable when families do special matching photos. I remember my dad buying he and my late mom matching jackets so they could be “twins”. His younger self would have made fun of himself for saying that. They were such a cute couple. Anyway, what about you guys? Are or were you, “matchers”? *Pictured is my sister, brother-in-law, their oldest Amyra, their son, Hudson, and the youngest, Annelyn at their church on Christmas Eve.

No, not really. I think if my family ever matched in a photo it was coincidence.

The photographer we had who attended our church would suggest coordinating colors for a family photo, but we did not do matching.

What a lovely photo. I was eight years younger than my sister and I don't think it ever occurred to Mum to dress us alike. I love that your Dad bought matching jackets for himself and your Mum.

The green Hunter's Plaid is refreshing. I have seen a lot of it in red. My older sister and I had one dress alike. At that point in history (1960's) They were called "squaw dresses" but they would be like what we later called peasant dresses. Bright red cotton sateen with tiered skirts and rows and rows of silver trim and pink and silver rick rack. One time mom and my older sister and I got Hush Puppy shoes alike. I made my son a coverall and shirt matching one of my special outfits when he was very young, and pants and vest to match a plaid skirt. I made my daughter a dress similar to one I made when her dad and I lived in California. It was a pale blue doubleknit lace.

I love this picture, they look so pretty and happy in their matching clothes. My husband and I did during a couple of years, soon after married. No more now.

@AmbiePam There came a time when I would object to dressing alike.

My mother used to dress my brothers alike, and I dressed my sons alike when they were little guys. Now, if someone is wearing the same dress as me, or vice versa, I would die of embarrassment!

@AmbiePam I was barely saved from a triple match one Easter at church. Two other women showed up in a dress I had been considering but decided not to buy.

@AmbiePam It happened to me once, too, and it was very embarrassing. Men don’t seem to care.

That is a cute photo. Yes, sis and I often matched as kids..and one time we all 3 matched as my mother had the same dress. Now we often wear matching jammies or cat shirts. It is just our thing..

I know so many families who do that! My parents never dressed us alike (but I know Hubby's mom dressed his sisters like twins often). And we don't do the matching thing for all of us either. Beautiful family photo!!

Thankfully, there was enough space between my brother and I in age that our parents didn’t try that. It might have been cute if we’d been twins or closer together in age, but no.

Oh, they didn't overdo it. I see a "theme." I admit I didn't like it when my parents did that to my brother and me when we were little. But they stopped pretty early.

Oh, now you dressed like your brother sounds incredibly adorable. If you ever come across a photo of such an occasion, you must let us see.

What a wonderful looking family! No, we never matched up. Oh wait, not the whole family, but my mom made my sister and I matching dresses one year for Christmas. Here's my picture.

Annelyn looks excited. My mom and I used to wear matching outfits from time to time on some special occasions. It did feel nice back then.

I think that it is cute when families decide to dress alike. Sometimes Mike and I will wear the same colors to church. As a kid we never had family pictures taken. I think I have 3 of our family, if it weren't for my Nana I wouldn't have them.

What a nice picture. They look cute in their matching outfits. My parents never were into matching. I was an only child until I was 18. Have a good day.
