How I spent New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day

New Year’s Eve in the morning my husband drove an hour and a half one way to get his son from his mother’s. He sees her maybe twice a year which is her choice. They went to the shooting range and tested out his new flint rifle. He wanted it so badly for Christmas and was so excited about it but I think after only hitting the large target 3 out of 12 times he isn’t as excited anymore since he didn’t want to take it hunting the following day. My little one started sneezing a lot and is very nasal. She has come down with the cold that my husband had then me then my son and now her. At least I know it will be a very mild one. My son was very bored over this break so he talked to town to the park for something to do. After cleaning all day and mopping the floor three times to get rid of the muddy paw prints I agreed when my husband asked what I thought about ordering pizza for dinner. I got time to myLot and to read a book. New Year’s Day my husband made me cry first thing when I woke up so that put my whole day on a bad note. I couldn’t pull myself out of the hurt but what’s new right I won’t bother to go into details. Our puppy has worms and I thought they were gone but discovered a week later she still has them. My husband thinks it’s because she goes out every day and eats the compost I throw outside. I am willing to try not doing it and seeing if it helps but I am so sad to send so much scraps to the landfill. We went to my mom’s for New Year’s Eve dinner. I made cheesy scalloped potatoes and Vegetable stuffing bake. I had intended to make a blueberry dessert but just did not get time. There were a lot of yummy desserts there anyway. Photo is unrelated and is just an odd mural I saw while on vacation back in July.

I like the mural. Why can't your hubby keep a civil tongue in his head? I wouldn't put up with someone who put me down every chance he got. That to me would be a deal breaker.

@snowy22315 it wasnt that he really said anything uncivil it was more just what it was about. Hard to explain but I did sum it up to always smiling. I feel stuck. Once I was pregnant it was too late to turn back and I don’t like his parenting I don’t want her with him without me days and weekends if we were to split.

@snowy22315 yes I have started writing things down. I reported my first husband who was passed out watching our two children at 6 & 3. There was no phone there for them to call for help if needed. He was doing heroin and admitted it and cys said it wasn’t neglect and he could still take his kids. Thankfully he let me do supervised visits it was terrifying to think what could happen if he had not allowed me and took care of them on his own.

@shaggin You could always try to get supervised visitation. It is a shame for your daughter to live in a toxic environment. You might want to start documenting the types of things he does when he has her so if you do decide to split at some point you can bring up dates and times to the judge and give examples of why this is necessary.

I'm sorry you had reason to cry early on New Year's Day. What a nerd men can be sometimes. I have chosen not to be in a relationship/ marriage because I seem to choose too strong of a personality type of men. I am the same and we always clash. Hugs to you, dear.

@allknowing summing it up he’s a slob and doesn’t clean after himself so I have a lot of additional messes to take care of and three animals in here. I don’t get enough time with the baby and he feels neglected and I said how bad I feel how little time I have to just sit and spend with the baby and he said I should. Meaning I should feel guilty. If he helped any I might have a little more free time. He just puts her in front of a tv and lays on the couch that’s not quality time either. I can’t do anymore then I already do I’m absolutely exhausted mentally and physically by the end of the day. I’m on my feet usually 15 hours a day almost nonstop.

@allknowing I do trust me there’s a lot of clutter and things I just don’t get time to take care of. The upstairs that is less trafficked only gets vacuumed when it looks like it needs it where as downstairs is daily. I could continue the list but no need to. My house isn’t spotless like it was when I was first married with only two kids many many years ago I just don’t have time.

I am sorry for the puppy. I bought a special containers for the compost to avoid that animals mess up with the compost. If the puppy stay outside you must be sure that there are no rodents that contaminate the soil.

@LindaOHio we haven’t had any below zero days or nights yet thankfully I’m hoping we won’t get any. If we do though I may be able to find some good icicles for the photo scavenger hunt I’m participating in.

@Lindaohio besides one day when my little one had a light runny nose she has just been nasal. That’s very much how the last cold I had was which I think she caught. The following day after New Year’s Day I came down with yet another cold. I’ll be glad when weather is nice and kids are out of school so things stop spreading so much.

You're a delight, I cannot imagine anyone mistreating you repeatedly, he obvioulsy doesn't know a good person when he is married to one. Puppies can come into contact with feces from other animals that are not vaccinated and get the worms from them. We had that happen as another dog used to come along and do his dirty business on the edge of our yard and our dog sniffed them, and it made her deathly ill.

@Juliaacv I wonder why abusive people feel okay with what they do. What makes them want to be mean to others. What makes them think it’s okay. How can they not feel such guilt that it would it hard to get through each day? I’ll never understand it. I think they are truly mentally sick. Gosh that is terrible about what happened with your animal! Wouldn’t have expected that. Ours eat poop and roll in it they love human waste they find in game lands it’s absolutely disgusting.

@shaggin In my experience, abusive people are often doling out what they themselves received, or they are doing it to make themselves feel superior. I have a brother that fits that later description.

@Marilynda1225 she’s still nasal but nothing else that’s pretty much how I was most the time when I was sick as well. My nephew wound up having RSV on New Year’s Day so now we have to watch for that. I have been nauseated for 4 days and have had a headache two of the days. I’m hoping it’s not that but usually adults don’t get to sick who catch it.

I wondered about the picture. It's interesting anyway and your sis have pizza the one night, so it fits. I wonder if there's a way to throw out the scraps but keep them contained so the dog can't get into them. Do you also add dirt or grass clippings and the like to the scraps? My daughter dated a guy once that used a short trash can with a lid. They pulled holes in the top. You're little one with the cold is how old now? (Sorry, I've not kept up very well). I have a new grandbaby that's now six weeks old. I got to hold him for the first time yesterday when I visited for half a day. I'll try to remember to include a picture. It's too bad that your husband ex only wants to see her son twice a year. That's sad. Especially since they only live an hour and a half away from each other.

@marshamusselman oh gosh you are right I did write about having pizza the one night so the photo does kind of fit. I used to keep it in a bucket then inside stacked cement blocks but I don’t actually make compost anymore for my garden. I just throw all the fruit and vegetable matter etc in a ravine at the back of our property. There’s no way to fence it off yet but hopefully in the spring we will have the part of the yard fenced off then the dogs won’t be able to go out of that large section so I can dump the scraps outside that section. My youngest is 2 1/2 now. What great news about the new grandbaby. He looks so tiny aww! Well it’s a 3 hour round trip but if it was my child that wouldn’t keep me away. When she had custody my husband had to drive 5 hours round trip. When she decided she could take care of him anymore and gave up custody my husband got full custody. She is allowed to see him any time she wants though as long as she meets half way which is the 1 1/2 hour point but she doesn’t care to see him sadly. She lost custody of her middle child as well and then after giving up my stepson she got pregnant again not long after. That makes me upset why give up one and make the child feel like what did I do wrong you know!

@sallypup Took my little one to the wic office at 10:30 but the power was out so I have to go back at 3:10. They didn’t even have a changing table there so I had to take her out to my car to change her after. I’ve been up since 6 and it’s 2:18 I finally had to make the pippy stay outside. She won’t stop bugging my little one and worms just keep getting everywhere. I can’t stomach it anymore. My husband is picking up a different wormer today.

@shaggin Weird about that WIC office. I'm sorry your puppy has those issues. Has a Vet seen the pup? I know that Vets cost a lot of money but many times over the counter meds don't work as well as prescription meds.

@sallypup his father and mother ran a beagle kennel for something like 30 years and they took their dogs to the vet often enough they can usually give us advice on what’s wrong with them. If it keeps up it may be necessary for him to take her.

Puppies have worms often. My cat had worms too, so I used a dewormer. After a month worms appeared again. The vet told us to take the dewormer again after 7 days.

@dya80dya I had the same issue with my cat. He’s been good since then so far. Our dogs get wormed often but they are always getting into things and catching them again.

I don't think your dogs get worms from a compost heap unless you throw raw meat or fecal matter in there. Maybe cover it nonetheless. As for the wake up part - very sad and sorry you have to put up with it

@Traveonworld I don’t think he is correct on this either but who knows. He keeps saying that’s what causing it so if they can no longer get into it and still get worms it’ll prove he’s wrong. Thank you

I wonder if the medication for your dog's worms isn't totally killing them. Might want to ask the vet. Maybe put the compost in another area your doggie can't get to? I'm so sorry you had a rough start to your day the other day. I hope your baby is better.

@noni1959 I think it’s more the meds as well that she is getting into too much nasty stuff in the game lands and he isn’t doing the worming meds routinely enough. I just had to start throwing the scraps in the garbage instead of over the bank as there’s just no area the dog can’t get into until we finish the fence.
