A Whole Dollar

United States
February 24, 2024 3:01pm CST
NtntYesterday, I went Walmart yesterday to get some items, aspirin, being one of them. The bottle that I usually buy had gone up a whole dollar. I thought, a whole dollar. Look as if there is no end in sight. You know things are going up, but my goodness a whole dollar. I could see 30 cents or 40 cents, but it was a whole dollar. I have to get me a five gallon bucket, I checked out last night how to plant things from scrap, such as potatoes. I looked on Pinterest and learned a lot about planting scraps. I've cleaned off my front porch, to get ready for what I can plant. What I saw looks pretty easy, but soon I will be trying it out. Been saying that for years, but if things continue like they're going, heck I may have a whole lot to learn. Getting my list ready, hope I do good.

And those companies don’t think about how every other company is raising their prices like that, making us choose what we value most. And pain relievers know we’ll opt for getting rid of our pain over a food item. It’s too much. I admire that you are planning to save a little money by growing your own food. Our legislators just voted to get rid of our grocery tax, which goes into effect in August, and I am very happy about that.

It makes a difference. When I lived in California we didn't pay taxes on groceries. When I moved to Mississippi we pay taxes on groceries, and still do. I thought it to be absurd.

I have noticed that lately too. Things no longer go up a few cents. The prices jump by a dollar or two. It is ridiculous.

Ugh. I have noticed the price of cooking oils (particularly olive oil) going up sky high! During the pandemic we did some kitchen scrap growing - but we didn't get to potatoes. I hope your garden does well .

It really is a shock every time I go to the grocery store. The other day there was a crate of small oranges and lemons and they were 58 cents. Each!

It seems like life is harder and harder. Should we deny this reality? Some people can't accept this.
