The latest food product controversy surrounds Quaker oats and other oats products. Now l have been consuming quaker oats for years believing that lt is super healthy and no problems could arise.. Of course this is not the first - and won't be the last time that food products we have been consuming for decades believing to be good for us are suddenly labeled as being bad for us. Then a few years later new research finds that the same product is not so bad afterall. Sometimes l wonder what l should really eat. Before real civilization people survived on natural stuff and hunted for food, l wonder how many illnesses were around in those times.. You can read about the Quaker oats problem in the link. The young man in the picture is a hunter. Can you guess which century he is from? https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/update-quaker-issues-revised-recall-notice-additional-products-due-possible-health-risk#:~:text=CHICAGO%2C%20Illinois%20%E2%80%93%20January%2011%2C,serious%20and%20sometimes%20fatal%20infections

You are right. Just like eggs. Years ago, we were told not to consume too much egg yolks because of cholesterol issues. Now, people are encouraged to eat eggs, including yolks because those are good cholesterol. I have also consumed Quaker oatmeal for many years. Well..

Eggs were also the first thing that came to mind when I read this.

I think the best thing would be to eat in moderation. There was a time when l had quaker oats for breakfast and dinner.

Some countries are using so many pesticides that is more than normal to find them in the final products. This image seems generated by Artificial Intelligence, it could be any time, but I would say from 1300 to 1500.

@Kandae11 - Switzerland has banned many pesticides, but we import vegetables and fruits from Spain, Italy and other countries, so I know I eat pesticides. You can notice a metal buckle on this picture, now those were invented around 1300, not before.

@LadyDuck Contamination is easier for some fruits and vegetables - best to buy organic or grow your own. Tomatoes for example are easy to contaminate because of the very thin skin. I usually peel off the first outer layer of cabbage...

It is definitely Al and my guess is between 12 and 1500. I use to believe that l would be safe eating mostly fruits and vegetables - then came the warnings about pesticides.

Eggs went through a bad patch there for a while too. As you say, it's hard to know what to eat.

At the same time, people back in the hunter gatherer days only lived to 30. I am not sure what that means, but I am sure we eat way less healthy but certainly live longer.

I guess it's not the oat itself, but contamination in the product . . . geez, there seems to be too much of that going on lately. I suppose there are no foods with no issues . . . if we think too much about it, then there is nothing left to eat. Perhaps the key is eating in moderation and having variety.

Scientists do that to alarm people about the food they eat. I keep buying the food I know is healthy for me. Science will get it right again eventually. I've eaten oatmeal all my life. I won't stop now. His clothing suggests the 1200s is my guess.

Your guess could be accurate. Seems like the scientists will never get it right in our lifetime so like you l will continue to partake of oats - but in moderation .

There was an article last week in which 96 people in the USA were tested for some other chemical residue found in oats which is not deadly and about 70 tested positive. The headlines screamed that 80% of Americans are infected with a dangerous chemical! It is more difficult these days to separate wheat from chaff. Your hunter's hair is a bit too clean to be from olden days, I guess he is a bit more modern.
