If you hear noise in the middle of the night. Are you more scared to go outside and look around. Since it is dark. I will grab my flashlight and look around but it is more scary outside in the dark of the night. There could be anyone or any wild animal outside in the middle of the night. It could be a bear or a cougar that are not going to be around during the day. I wonder how many people feel the same as me. They do not want to go outside in the middle of the night.

I wouldn't go outside in the middle of the night if I hear noises or dogs backing. I would wait until morning.

I will stay in the house, look through the door and see what the noise is. Curiosity sometimes overcomes fear :d

@jstory07 unless the compound is fenced with a closed gate, I wouldn't go out. You are very brave to go out in the dark.

Yes, especially you live in the wild alone and you don't have neighbors around, then it will be scary.

@jstory07 That's great you don't live alone. Perhaps when you feel insure, it is better to grab a phone at first in case of any accidents.

That's right. We should carry the phone with us and open an emergency number to call if an unexpected situation occurs.

I turn the outside lights on and look from the upstairs windows before venturing outside.

I don't go out at night anymore, but I've never been afraid to go out if I needed to. I worked the third shift in my last job, and it never bothered me to drive home in the dark. Not even the night I hit the deer.

@just4him I can understand that. The headlight makes a deer go blind for a few minutes that is why they get hit.

@jstory07 I had no choice. It was dark. I only saw him when he was in my headlights and then it was too late.

There wouldn't be any wild animals here but there could be burglars so I probably wouldn't be going outside. I might turn on all the outside lights and hope whatever/whoever it was would go away.

I am the same with you. And I think everyone is like that. Who doesn't feel scared or nervous when hearing noises in the dark and quiet night?! But will there really be wild animals there? In my place, there never would be.

Yes here there would be wild animals . They come down from the hills. . Deers most of the time. But sometimes you get a bear or cougar.

It seems everyone is thinking of an animal. No bears or cougars where I live either. But I am not thinking about animals. I am thinking criminals and would not open the door due to hearing a noise. That is what the police are for.

I am not too far from you. I would not go outside for a noise at night. It might be some bad person who wants to get inside and rob me or kill me. If the noise is bad enough I will call 911. If not, go back to bed.

@tkonlinevn Of course not!! I just mean before we had electric street-lights or even torches (and obviously no vehicle headlights), as soon as the sun went down we would be in the dark, except for a little moonlight sometimes.

@jstory07 Looking outside or going outside? There is a difference. I would not go outside if I suspected something going on for love nor money. You said you go outside. I would look outside, but probably wouldn't be able to see anything in the dark unless it triggered the floodlights or the moon was very bright. Either can happen.

I will immediately go find out what's up . . . out here it's most likely not a big wild animal. But then again, there could be some crazy wild humans - that could be dangerous.

There are no a bears or cougars to worry about here. When I hear a strange noise, I go outside to see if it's Bigfoot. And I always take a camera just in case it is.
