The rope has many big knots in it. Throw it all at me, ok?

You know that saying, ''tie a knot in it and hang on!'' --they should add on to that saying that it is often a very bumpy ride! I thought my son was on the mend somewhat--not a fantastic improvement by any means, but I did see a bit of progress. This week it all went downhill. His blood count crashed, wild BP up and down, ridiculously high fever, and back in the hospital from Sunday night to Tuesday, then he was readmitted Wednesday to Thursday night. He's had several transfusions, and his blood count is back to what is normal for him at this time. Usually, he isn't moody and tries to remain positive, but this week his cheerful demeanor left him. He's trying, it's just hard. This has been such a hard time for him, and to be honest, hard for me and his siblings. But they do have families and young children to care for and do not live that close, with the exception of one sister, who works a lot...we are doing the best we can, but sometimes I wish I could just kick and scream for a short time or have some time to just rest and regroup. He doesn't sleep well, or for very long at a time. His appetite is either gone and he doesn't want to eat, or he is ravenous and you can't get it ready fast enough. I often say, ''I'm doing the best I can'' and honestly, that's the truth. It's just not enough to make him well right now. So, I'm asking everyone that knows me, I've asked family, friends, and here I am asking all of you--send any good wishes, good karma, prayers, hugs, whatever you've got to spare, for my son, and for me to stay as strong as I can stay. He is a good man, and deserves to have a life. I won't ever give up on him, or any of my family. That doesn't mean, however, that any of this is easy. I know many of us are having a hard time right now, forgive me if I am asking for good thoughts and all, I just...have to. I promised myself I would do that. I tied a new knot in my rope, a BIG one! pixabay image.

It's okay. You have every right to ask. I wish George and I could do more. But, I will prey for you and your family. He's trying, but his body is making him work for it. It happens sometimes. You can do this.

I am the queen of never give up. I never will. But oh, sometimes I wish I could just spend an entire day, or maybe even two days, resting, and just...being me. I am sure all caregivers feel this way, it doesn't make me special. Sending you best thoughts and hugs, Kayla. Thank you.

@MarieCoyle I understand. Believe me, I do. I think I have it fairly easy because George doesn't require much. And, he's capable of helping himself. (he'll remind me about pills and things), but I feel it, too. I wish I could get into his head and just heal him.

@kaylachan We do have the occasional good day that gives me lots of hope. He is trying so hard to do everything he can to be well. He doesn't want to be sick at all, which is good. Oh, I have the same wish as you--childishly, I wish there was such a thing as a magic wand, for us both to wave over them and fix them up! I honestly think I am just tired. I will be fine, I always am. Going to try to rest in a bit, I hope that you can, too.

@MarieCoyle - I can understand that your son would like his independence, this is what we all wanted when we were young. I really hope he can be well.

Yes, he does, he is very appreciative. But on the flip side, he wishes he didn't have to rely on me, too. He likes his independence and he likes to work. I appreciate you and your good wishes very much, Anna.

He has a somewhat rare blood disorder. His body does not make enough blood. Hard to explain, but the only way is to get transfusions. I am so grateful that people give blood and I still have him here on earth! Thank you, Snowy.

Your son goes through so much with his health issues . . . I know you are doing everything in your power to take care of him as best as you can. It is truly a blessing to have such a supportive family, but as a mom and all, a lot goes on your shoulders. Wishing all things good for you and your son . . . keeping you both in my thoughts with positivity .

@LindaOHio I know I am the lucky one. So proud of all the kids and grands. We all strive to leave a good mark on life, a legacy of sorts. They are my finest work. Better than any expensive art, or a bank full of money. Just them, it's enough. Thank you so much, Linda.

It’s honestly more heartbreaking than it is frustrating. I want him to have a better life than just hospital visits and illness. I want the best life he can have. He had the best heart. Loves animals and has worked with rescues to help them. He has rebuilt a ton of computers, buying parts and repairing them, and giving them to disabled veterans. I’ve lost track of the people he has helped. He is a good man, and I am proud that he is my son. I want him to be well and happy. I will do whatever I can to help make that happen! No, I won’t ever give up on him. As a Mom, I fiercely love all of my children and giving up is not in my blood. Thank you so much, Linda.
