I was having an Indian dish for supper tonight, and I really like Naan with it. To buy it in a store it is like 3.99 per package, and I never eat it all. I found a 2 ingredient recipe to make it at home using just some flour and plain yogurt. It cost pennies and was really pretty good. Is there anything you used to buy at the store, that you now make at home for less?

Oh wow, that's it for the ingredients??? I'll have to find that recipe!!! During the pandemic, we tried out a lot of copycat recipes from our favorite restaurants . . . some were just serious keepers and I'm sure we ended up (and still are) saving tons of money cooking/eating at home!

Yeah, it is a good thing. So many famous recipes can be made at home for less Flat bread super easy equal proportions of plain yogurt and self rising flour just make it like a thin pancake.

@snowy22315 Do you cook it on the stove or in the oven?

It's not bad. The real trick is getting it as thin.

Do you really save money with homemade Hamburger Helper? I guess you could make a much larger quantity for less.

Good for you, Judy. I think a lot of us make a homemade version of Hamburger Helper. So silly not to, we save so much $ and we know what we are eating.

@snowy22315 Not needing yeast would be a bonus.

I was going to make 15 bean soup today, but decided to wait until after Easter when I have some ham to put in it

@snowy22315 That sounds good and a great way to use some of the ham from Easter

I just make pretty much all that we eat from scratch. I do cheat sometimes on the rye bread, but not often. I really try to steer clear of processed foods, they are just so horrible for us all.

Most people who work don't really have time to cook from scratch or don't,t know how to. Alot of people kind of picked it up during Covid. For awhile you couldn't,t find yeast since so many were baking at home.

@snowy22315yes, I was lucky and had yeast in my freezer, it lasted for several months and then I had to resort to getting it on Amazon for awhile until I could find it in our stores.

@snowy22315 May be adding a bit more flour when you roll them.

I can no longer cook; so everything is store bought. I'm glad your Naan recipe turned out. Have a good weekend.
