Would You Prefer to Work Remotely?

Or do you actually like interacting in person with coworkers? I am curious as I had never worked remotely. Has your previous job gone remote now? And is computer work, digital work the only possibility? Of course not. You can do all kinds of 'crafts' and so on at home to sell. What do you think?

I probably work best on my own. It's hard to make a living from craft unless you're really, really good at it.

It is. I wish I would have had a mobile hair service at one point, but I had a lot of fun working in the salons in the busy malls.

@JudyEv Never not once..when I was doing hairdressing, it was illegal to do so, so I was always afraid of doing it. You could lose your license for it. Now you can get a mobile license these days.

I am retired now, but I would have loved to have been able to work from home! It would have been very easy and logical for me to do it too, since I was a webmaster for the School's website.

@RebeccasFarm Yes, it would have. I would have gotten my work done faster too without all the interruptions. I could of gone in the office once a week to meet with people who needed help. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Oh well, I'm at home now every day!! Well, almost!!

I have been working remotely for the last few months. I am enjoying working from home. Once every two months, I visit the office where I work. The benefit is I can work for multiple people, so if one work stops, the other is there as a standby. Simultaneously, I am also making jewelry and selling it online.

@RebeccasFarm Yes, I am doing well just now. The only problem is the work is not permanent. Every month, it's stressful to know whether it will continue.

My sister only has to go to her office two days a week and she can choose what days she goes to the office. then she has an office in her home where she works the other three days. I think she likes working at home.

@RebeccasFarm When I think about it I think she does and I think she loves her company as they seem to be so nice. They let her bring her laptop to my house so she could work after she took me to the oral surgeon as I had to have a consultation to have my wisdom teeth out in June. She was able to sit at my dining room table and have one of those meetings where they saw each other over their laptops. she had several meetings that way and did some other work

I currently work remotely, although I have to go into an office occasionally. I have worked from home when I have been self-employed. That's one of the things I find strange about people who think remote work is a new and bad concept. It's something many people have been doing for a long time, and working in offices is a relatively modern concept. I used to work full-time in an office when I first got an 9-5 office job. We began working from home because of covid. While I have since changed employer, I still do a similar job and the remote working is still happening. The job is the same whether I do it from home or an office or anywhere else. While I don't mind interacting with co-workers, I prefer to focus on my work and get on with it. We are being encouraged to come to the office. Some reasons given include things like better work-life balance and something about social interaction. I know some people are at home alone and maybe miss the social interaction. I, on the other hand, live with three other adults! I would also think there was something amiss if a person's only social interaction was in the workplace. As for a better work-life balance, I don't understand how that works. It's not so bad for me as it's a 10 to 15 minute walk to the office. That walk is good for me. However, that was different in my previous job where I would spend an additional 3 hours mostly stuck in traffic. I'm sure there are people who could be spending that time taking children to school or doing something productive. Apart from my full-time job, I also do crafts and things. This is another oddity I find - nobody seems to have any problem with doing crafts, etc. from home but I think some people forget that remote working/working from home can mean many things. I know some people have said that those working from home doing 'office' jobs should get back to work. As if they don't understand the "working" part of "working from home". They think phones aren't being answered because of people working from home when the truth is that phones weren't being answered anyway because there weren't enough people to answer them! Sorry, I have ranted a little there Basically, it's OK to interact with co-workers but I prefer to get on with things. I generally prefer to work remotely as it's quieter, and I can get other things done during my breaks. If I'm in the office, my break is spent in the office thinking about what I could be doing at home!

Both has its own diadvantages and advantages. Sometimes I think working from home will cause me not to focus on work since there are so many things to do at home. And sometimes the office equipment can be better than home. So I still prefer to work in the office. Of course if I can work four days in the office and then have three days off work and it will be perfect

My daughter has a job and works remotely. She loves it most of the time but occasionally she'll say she misses being in an office and having other people to talk to. She definitely doesn't miss having to commute or get dressed up.

I am not what you call a people person, but I used to think the only to motivate myself to work, was to go out to work. However, I later realized remote work such as the jobs I do online, is right for me. I can take my laptop anywhere. and I can do what I need to do. I can also take a break whenever I want. It's amazing.

Here in Italy there used to be many scammers who made you buy raw materials and promised you to pay for the finished product. Now opportunities tend to be digital but scammers are still around. Thankfully there are tons of legit businesses too. I wouldn't mind working from home but I think chances are I'm going to be self-employed. You gotta be very lucky to find nice coworkers so staying home is the safest option in my opinion.
