Do you pay your credit cards off every month?

I have to admit I do have a small balance on my cards..less than a thousand though. I try not to use them unless it is an emergency..(although some "emergencies") are a bit dubious..oh I just relally need that snow blower, pizza, sweater..insert whatever in the blank. I have paid off several in the past few years .although have one I started using again I want to be in the enviable position like friend is of just paying the balance every month and reaping the rewards points. Are you able to do this, or do you never use credit cards?

I pay my credit card balance every month and I receive cashback every time I use it. I never paid any interest.

I get cash back on certain ones. I get cashback every week from using PP debit card. Not sure how much it would add up to over the month, but maybe a dollar or two. Reward points I get on all the cards though.

@LadyDuck Yes, I have an Amex I get reward points in here..and one I get 3 percent Cashback on gas. That is one I can fairly easily pay off and when I do I will just use it for gas all the time and get lots of cash back.

@snowy22315 The grocery stores cards give reward points, Visa and MasterCard only offer cashback here, not a lot but as I use them all the time better than nothing.

I watched the ex husband bury himself in debt using credit cards, he was really bad to buy so many expensive things that he ''deserved'' because you know...it was for him. I haven't charged anything in years and years. I refuse to go into debt for things I can do without. Not sure how I would do this if I had to get a huge, new and pricey item, but so far, this has worked for me. No charging!

@snowy22315 I already have a high enough stress level, so I will continue to try to avoid using a credit card!

I pay off my credit card every month. I've been doing that for more than 15 years. Credit card debt stacks up and multiplied very quickly!!

I pay my credit card (just have one) off each month, although it was years before I was finally able to pay it off completely each month due to a dental bridge that killed my finances. I never paid just the minimum because that is foolish, and I was so relieved when I was able to do it completely. Like you, it’s just for emergencies. Weird fact for you today, snowy: The chainsaw was originally invented to help with childbirth. It was hand cranked instead of gas powered, but early chainsaws were used to assist with the removal of the pelvic bone during difficult births. Ow!

I pay mine off each time that I use it. Quite often it is for reservations or when we go on holidays. It is easy to pay off when we get back home, that way there is no interest to be paid and we get the points.

Yes, At least I am down to a few cards. If I put my mind to it, I could pay them all off within a year or so..barring any disaster.

@snowy22315 We just have cut back so much and have gotten into the habit of doing without that the cards just take up space in our wallets, actually, I don't even think that my hubs carries his.

@shaggin 600 is OK..but if you haven't used any in years..it still would be difficult for you to get utilities or loans in your name. You would probably need a s co signer

You might want to get one just to have credit in your name. You will have an easier time establishing yourself on your own if you ever need to.

It's good to pay them off every month to avoid the interest. I don't qualify for credit cards.

We put everything on one card and get Frequent Flyer points. Thankfully we're able to pay it off each month. I remember having a huge balance on it once and trying to pay it off bit by bit.

I got into too much debt when I was young and dumb. After working 3 jobs at a time to pay off the debt I have not and will not use credit cards again. If I cannot pay with cash or write a check, I don't need it. I am thankful I learned this lesson in my 20s. I would despise being in debt on credit cards at this point in my life.

@snowy22315 I do not have big amounts of cash in the house. I make sure it is put away and each month on a certain date my credit card amounts go out unless it carries over to months after that.

I do try to pay mine off each month. I tend to use credit cards only for large purchases, although there are odd times when I've needed it for groceries or something unexpected (or for groceries because I've used other money for something unexpected). I have a little outstanding on two cards at the moment (probably totalling around £250), which will get paid off next pay day. The only reason that's still there is due to visiting family a couple of months ago and paying for accommodation, etc.

Yes, that isn't bad. I have some brake work I need to get done on the car, and I know I will have to put a bit on the cards.

I don't have a credit card even so I have to pay my debit card every month and it is automatically deducted from my balance at the bank.

You bet I do! I have one of those “hotel” affiliation cards, where I get points toward free nights. Great bonus. And they haven’t made a penny in interest off of me.

I had one of those! I very rarely will charge a restaurant meal on a card though..you will be paying for that many times, unless you pay your balance off every month and can receive the reward points.

I have a few credit cards & I don't over run them just B-cause I use them on what I need for the cabin & getting it sealed up but we don't put a whole lot on the C C at 1 time either & we pay on the bal depending on how much is on the card. Like we just got Best buy paid off & then turned around & put another 300 on it for stuff we need for the cabin & not put nothing else on it till that is paid off.
