Looking forward to the weekend, but...

life seems to change by the minute. Our daughter and her family are planning to come for the weekend from Charleston SC...it's been a long time since they were here, but it's a 7 hour drive. They're going to pick up Alice, our great granddaughter on the way. We haven't been able to see her in quite a while, so that will be wonderful. Robert and Nathan will come over and Dale is taking Robert and Jay, Tammy's husband, fishing so we can have a fish fry on Saturday afternoon. My eye was in so much pain over the weekend, but the eye doctor yesterday said the eye lid underneath was so dry it stuck to the cornea and scratched a tiny piece of the cornea. He gave me steroid eye drops and it's already feeling better, praise God. Now I'm just waiting for a call from the pain clinic with an appointment for the ablation procedure on my lower spine. Really praying that will help with the back pain. So, there are things that won't get a good cleaning before the kids come, but I do want to cook some things without going overboard! Hope you all are having a good week.

Please don’t worry about the house being in tip top shape or cooking a lot (I know you said you wouldn’t go overboard). Keep yourself in the least amount of pain possible. All they want is you to feel as good as you can. I’m just so glad they are making the trip!

I know you're right, but old habits die hard. I'll just do what I can and Dale helps. The kids would rather have me feeling better than a clean house and lots of special dishes. Well, maybe a few good dishes.

It will be so good to see your daughter and her family and your great-granddaughter. I'm sorry your eyelid was dry and caused a scratch on your eye. I'm glad the eye drops are helping. I hope the pain clinic calls soon with an appointment for your lower spine. You're not super woman. Your family will understand if the house isn't perfect.

Thanks, they'll just have to, won't they? But I'm harder on me than they are, but I'm not a perfectionist for sure!

Amber has some good advice for you. You will enjoy the visit more if you aren't in pain so be careful not to overdo.

@1creekgirl They aren't going to love you any less if you get the food pre made instead of making it yourself,, and if everything isn't perfect so what?

@snowy22315 You're very right. Dale's going to fry the fish, we'll have Bob Evans mashed potatoes and gravy, and I'll make slaw the day before with Walmart shredded cabbage and then fry cornbread. I really really want to make a pecan pie, but we'll see. I don't want to do so much I can't enjoy the kids.

Our kids really love living there (Mt Pleasant on one side of the bridge and Charleston on the other.) I love going downtown, all the cute shops and restaurants.

@1creekgirl Charleston's historic architecture is lovely. We went on a plantation tour while we visited.

I'm so sorry about your eye and back. I hope you get some relief. How exciting that you have family coming. I hope you have a wonderful time. The house doesn't have to be sterile. It's probably perfect the way it is!

Well, it's far from perfect, but they'll understand. I'll check your posts about your husband, but I pray it's good news.

@LindaOHio Does that mean they won't pay for rehab and he has to come home? He's not ready for that yet, is he?

Hope your visit with the family goes well & you have no more eye issues, our week is on & off rain & hot all this week so it's not going to let us get a whole lot done in the cabin.

@1creekgirl Being it's just Wednesday, it's been a busy 1 we're trying to work on the 2nd 1/2 of the cabin to get it done but we had to work on the dog feeders to keep the mice out of them so that put us back a few days & now the rain that don't seem to give us a break doesn't help.

If Colorado were in eastern NC, you and your son could join us! Just got a call, pain clinic waiting for approval from Medicare and BC/BSNC. Maybe a week or two. As best I understand, it's kind of slightly burning some nerves that carry the pain. It's out patient. Of course heart transplants are practically out patient now, lol.

I am sorry for your eye. I have very dry eyes and I know how much it is painful. I wish you the best for your ablation procedure. Your house will be clean enough and your food delicious.

The kids will only be interested in seeing each other and their parents. They won't be looking at what didn't get cleaned. You'll have a great time.

I appreciate that, Dena. I'm especially looking forward to seeing our 9 year old great granddaughter Alice. She was named that because her mother loved Alice in Wonderland.
