Who shops at thrift shops?

Who shops at thrift shops? Teachers. Teachers shop at thrift shops. Every time I go to the local one I see at least one teacher from my school. Thrifting is one way to afford to update your wardrobe without breaking the bank. I spent almost $22 today. One item is not going to work. I got it half price, for two dollars. In addition to the dress that will not work for me I got three men's short sleeve shirts like hubby likes to wear. . . the button down kind. I got a lovely flowing top, a nice t shirt style shirt, and a set of pants and a top. The flowy top and the T shirt top will also go with the pants I bought. So, for the things that we will use I spent about $3 per garment. It pays to be thrifty.

I don't like the Goodwill store in town, but some of those affiliated with the church are fantastic!

In my closest town I have a Hospital Auxiliary, next closest is an Et Cetera shop. I believe this is a chain across the US sponsored by Mennonite or Mennonite Brethern congregations. I get the best deals there. High quality clothes as well.

@GardenGerty I don't think we have those here, but I do find the church run ones have the best values.

@snowy22315 I have a thrift store not far from me that is run by all the local churches. It’s great. No clothing over $2-$3 unless it’s something like a new pair of shoes in the box or a designer handbag. Shirts, tops, jeans are all no more than $3. Most often many good brands, too. I feel very fortunate that the business is there., I see people in there from all walks of life.

That's really good value. It must be nearly time I visited another thrift shop.

My dream is to find a pair of Rogers LS-3/5as loudspeakers for $100. They look like "old small speakers," but they are worth...I'll let you check when you have too much time on your hands.

We love thrift stores. I look through maybe 50 things to find the perfect thing. And sometimes I don't find anything. But I love the hunt and I especially like the prices. Dale buys all his work clothes (for farming and all the dirty jobs outside.)

@GardenGerty It seems now that even super sales in retail stores are way too high.

Why did you buy clothes that will not work? I don't normally shop at thrift stores. The prices are almost the same as regular store prices.

I bought a dress that is too small for me. Sizes vary so much. I will either take it apart and use the material and buttons or I will re donate it. No dressing rooms available, so it is a guess.

@just4him Yes, or I could try to lose weight. That would be good for me. The dress in question feels like it is brand new crisp cotton fabric.

@GardenGerty I'm sorry you couldn't try it on before you bought it. Reusing it is a good idea. My mother-in-law did that a lot with clothes. I've done it too.

I love going to thrift stores. Thankfully in our small town, we have several to choose from. We have a Salvation Army, Goodwill, and two which support missionaries (one of which our church supports) Sounds like you got some great deals.

We have a lot of thrift stores in town. I occasionally go and buy t-shirts for like around $2 each.

I love thrift shops, but not for clothes. I shop for art supplies, decorating items, puzzles, games, antique and used furniture that can be repurposed, etc. Trouble is, since I do not have a car, I have not been able to go to any thrift shop in many years. I also love flea markets and garage sales.

I like those things as well. The older I get the less distance I want to travel to find them though.

Thrift shopping is the best!! Sounds like you got some great deals . . . I love getting nice clothing pieces for prices you would never get at a mall shop . . . and really nobody knows the difference.

I also like the fact that if one of my kiddos or something at work damages or soils my clothes it is not a major problem or loss. It lets me relax and do my work.

I knew someone who got headlice from trying on a hooded winter coat brand new in Walmart. It is a consideration for sure. Bed bugs, too.

You had very good deals. It's a long time I do not need to buy anything for my husband and I. We have too many clothing that I am donating to the thrift stores right now.

Bob wears his shirts out. They always get threadbare in one particular spot. I think it has to do with his pacemaker.

I have no idea where any thrift shops are where I live now, However, when I lived in Latvia my hubby and I loved thrift shops it was a great way to afford winter clothes for both of us even boots,
