Getting ready for bed in the olden days

Time for another wax figure from the Westonia Museum in Western Australia. This lady is doing her hair prior to going to bed. Doesn’t she look real?
The dressing table had a lovely set of candlesticks, trinket boxes, hair brush, etc. I hope we get back there one day.

I like wax museums. I haven't been to one in quite awhile. There are a couple I know of not super far away though..maybe I should try to go.

@snowy22315 To me, it's a museum with a few wax figures helping make the displays come alive. The only wax museum I've seen was all wax figures and basically nothing else.

She looks very much real.
It seems as if she might leap and start running the next moment !

She looks very real, also not too happy that she’s going to bed.
Or maybe her hair is tangled. Actually, that’s part of the realism!

@JudyEv — I remember that “sage advice”! Glad I’ve always had short hair.

@wolfgirl569 Some museums can get very dusty. There are never as many volunteers as they need.

She doesn't look very happy, I guess she's found a knot.
I have a load of things like that too. But I'm not sure that curved brush is intended for a dressing table. I have one just like it and it goes with a crumb tray (like a little dustpan and brush set) to sweep crumbs off the table. Must show you a picture!

She looks incredibly real!
That's a fascinating glimpse into nightly routines from a different time. The detail on the dressing table really brings the whole scene to life. Thanks for sharing this piece of history!

She's brushing her hair before bed? Won't her hair get all messed up/tangled up while she sleeps?
Wax museums are fun. I've been to a few in my life, but we don't have any in my city or close by. But if I come across one when I'm traveling, I usually will visit and see what they have to offer.

Those ladies who were anybody used to brush their hair 100 strokes before bedtime. Didn't you know that?

Very realistic. Those nightgowns were so voluminous.
