GIANT DOG FOR SALE!!!^_^

Philippines

I got this article from a kids magazine. It really caught my attention because I am a pet lover and I can't resist animals especially if they are really cute. By the way, the picture that I posted was the real thing. It's what the dog really looks like in personal. Here's the article that I was talking about. Read about it and tell me what you think. Having a puppy as a pet is wonderful. And I am sure all you animal lovers know that there are many ads on the Internet selling cute little puppies. But I bet you haven't seen the kind of ad that I am about to tell you about. First, take a look at the picture! No, the animal sitting next to the lady isn't a cow! It's a dog named Dolly living in Colorado, U.S. Are you ready to be shocked? Dolly weighs more than 140kg and eats close to 8 meals a day! So, can you guess why Dolly is on sale? The friendly and gentle dog is on sale because she eats too much! And her owner can't afford her food anymore. Her owner says Dolly eats more than the whole family. Are you interested? If you are willing to share your food with her, ask your parents to buy her for you! ^^ What do you think?

Poor dog, you are deserted becouse you eat too much. That is really a big problem if such a pet eats more than the whole family. and by the way, how much will the owner sell her?

Yes, it is a problem. I'm sorry dear. I don't know how much Dolly costs. ^^ But anyway, thanks for the response. I'm glad you have sympathy for this poor animal. I hope someone takes care of her soon.

Actually, I don't know how much her present owner is selling Dolly but I think that they are really interesting in sending her away because they can no longer afford to provide her needs. That's too bad. I want to own Dolly too but I think I can't afford her whims too. That's too bad. I hope somebody will step up and take care of her. Aww, the poor thing! Anyway, thanks for the response! ^^

That's a mastiff. My parents have quite a few of them. That dog, however, shouldn't be eating 8 meals a day haha. My dads dog (same breed) weighs 175lbs at the moment. She's actually small since she's a female. I'd love to buy Dolly though!! Mastiffs are a great breed, they just have a lot of health problems.

My brother has 2 as well. And I am thinking... IF this story is really true, that it's the MEDICAL expense that the owner can't handle.

Yeah, you are right. It's disgusting in a way but I think even if that's the case, I would still like to have Dolly as my pet, my friend or even my baby. She is so adorable. Having a pet is a really good training for people who will be soon to be parents. Parenting and taking care of a baby is tedious and that is the same with taking care of your pet. Love it as if it was your own. Anyway, thanks for the response! ^^

I didn't buy her. I wanted to but I don't think I'll be able to take care of her and feed her the same amount of food that she eats everyday. I mean look at her. She's huge! ^^ I hope someone takes care of her soon. Anyway, thanks for the response. I'm glad there are a lot of animal lovers here on MyLot!

Dolly's owner should try to have some sort of way that she can do a fundraiser to help gain money to feed her animal, I mean there has got to be a way she can try to keep her dog. It is just too sad that she has to sell her dog just because the dog is eating them out of the house you know what I mean? Besides I have seen those dogs before and I think that you should have known that the dog would grow to be that size, it is a mastif I think.

Yup, too bad the owners were not prepared for her. I could have wished they did research on her breed first before buying her. Anyway, thanks for the concern! ^^

My brother has a mastiff right now, that is about as big as this dog. And yes, I think the girl sitting next to the dog is rather petite.. but anyways.. I think the biggest reason they would be trying to find a home for it would be the medical expense that comes with this type of dog. My brother also adopted 2 of this breed before owning his present 1.. and the health issues that came with the dogs when he took them in from people, who said the same thing.. that they could no longer afford to feed them... but my brother found out with a month, that the health was not good. He had them at the vet's at least once a week. And the cost for the medications was what was breaking the checkbook! Due to health issues, they eventually had to have them put down. So why does he have another one? Because his wife is not too smart.. lol She loves the idea of getting "attention" to having animals out of the "norm". While he was at work 1 day, she decided to spend his savings and go to pet store... and PAID over $2000 for a mastiff puppy!! Because it was "sooooo cute!!" And now I hear almost everyday how he is trying to find a home for it and it's not even a year old yet! Some people just don't THINK often enough!

Wow! That was a long one. Anyway, I understand how concerned you are about Dolly and her condition. I know everyone is but the owners should never have let her eat 8 meals a day in the first place. Now they are complaining that they can't feed her that much anymore. It was their fault. They consented to that. All the while, the dog thought it was okay to eat 8 meals a day because they kept on giving her food so the natural instinct of that animal is to eat again. The owners really are the ones to blame. Anyway, let's hope that Dolly finds a new home soon. Thanks for the response! ^^ Keep on posting!

That is the biggest dog I've ever seen. HECK NO, I would NOT buy a dog that big. Maybe the circus could sell tickets to see the dog to help pay for the food? LOL Seriously, they should just give it to a good home, where the people can pay for the food.

Yes, I guess you're right. Dolly should get a good home soon or else it would be bad to just let her stay outside of the house. She's such a cutie. Thanks for the response, anyway! ^^

Saint - Saint
Well we have 2 Saint Bernards and I know they get really really BIG so I am not at all that shocked about how big Dolly is. Now my Saints dont eat that much a day though so I understand why the owner is finding her a new home.
• Philippines
8 Dec 06
Yeah, Saint Bernards are really huge. I remember the dogs from Beethoven. They are big and strong but gentle and loving creatures. I would love to have one that big but I don't know if I can afford giving it all it's needs. I really pity the dog because I am an animal lover and I simply adore anything that's cute. Too bad they need to give her away or sell her but that's her fate. We can't do anything about it. Anyway, thanks for the response.^^

The dog should have been named Clifford! Ok, it is a girl...so Cliffette! Wow! that is one HUGE dog! The picture is a little small. What kind of dog is that?? Cross between Great Dane and St.Bernard? I have a huge soft spot for animals. And as much as I would love to have a gentle giant, I don't even think I could afford to feed that dog. Amazing! She should contact The Guiness Book of World records. Maybe they can pay her with a year supply of dog food!

Yes, dear. They should contact the Guiness Book of World Records just to be able to get some money for Dolly. I read that Dolly is a MASTIFF or a cross between a MASTIFF and a Saint Bernard. Yeah, Clifette sounds cute. (Hehe! Say HI to Clifford's fiancee!) ^^ Anyway, thanks for the response!

oh my goodness that is a big dog! But if you look at it this way she might be cheaper than a home security system. When they see a dog that big no one on earth is gonna rob your house! Dolly might be cheaper then renting a pony for pony rides at a birthday party or for little kids to play with.

What a gorgeous dog lol. I remember walking into a vets office years ago. This guy came out of one of the rooms, and I jumped back, eyes wide, and said my gosh what is that a friggin pony? It was sooo huge lol. It was some kind of mastiff-I forget which ones get to be the biggest, English I think? Anyway, that's what it was. I swear I could've hopped on it's back for a ride lol.

hey its clifford, so some child will have there very own clifford dog? Im not sure why the owners wouldnt try talking to some dog food companies first and seeing if they could use the dog in commercials or demonstrations first mayby in return for supplies of food. If thats the actual size of the dog im sure some dog food company would be interested in trading food for the rights to show off the dog for promotional things for a certain amount of days a month or year or whatever.

I love Dolly! Looks like a mastiff or mastiff/st bernard mix. Dolly is a little overweight and if the parents were feeding a high quality food they would be able to feed her less and have her receive the max amount of nutrition. Unfortunately people buy big dogs because they want to say they have a huge dog but aren't willing to pay for the dog once it is full grown and is expensive to feed. I do think a rescue would take Dolly in a heartbeat - get her healthy and a normal weight and find her a home that is willing to love her forever

She's adorable! I'd love to have that dog! People should do research before they buy pets. I hate people who get rids of big dogs the moment they get "big". Duh, they aren't going to be a 12 week old 15 lb puppy forever.
